I just had the experience of going through a team redraft for the first time, and boy I wasn't prepared for it.
So... how does everyone else deal with it? |

Well you accept it like you accept all the rules, what else can you do?
But now that you have a freshly redrafted team, apply it to a Pro bowl! |

when u know it's coming, u can:
- plan which players u will keep,
- stack spp on them but don't spend it yet, to avoid increasing redraft cost. hoarding spp doesn't increase cost
- don't put spp onto players u won't keep
- don't spend gold unless u definitely will still make the cap
- sometimes u know u will need to retire an expensive skilled player, so u can start planning for when u start getting their replacement ready
- in a TV matching environment, it's fine to redraft linemen with 2spp or whatever. It makes u slightly stronger into next season, but at the cost of lowering ur max TV that u will redraft with
- in a league environment, u probably want to come out at close to max possible TV, so u will want to minimise agent fees, so those 2spp linemen probably get cut |

Is there always a cap on redraft gold you can spend? I had saved up some gold thinking I would need it for redraft, but I was over a cap? It seems like it would have been better spent hiring a few new linemen before the redraft so that it wasn't wasted gold? |

In the Competitive division, the redraft budget is calculated as 1000k base + 10k per game played, + 10k per win, +5k per tie. Plus all your gold, but capped at 1350k. So after a good season, you don't need much money to reach the cap. Your current redraft budget is displayed on your team page (bottom right).
Spending your money on linos before the redraft is 100% lost though, might as well keep and dump the cash. You cannot keep the linos unless you redraft them. |

Above advice is all good. Never spend money right before redrafting, that's for sure. Even the game before that, keep the cap in mind. This does mean scumming works better (or at least earlier in the season) if you have a good record lol.
What I've learned:
1) If you want stats on a player, take them no sooner than you've hit the diminishing returns point on skills. Human Blitzers should get MB and/or Guard, then stats before any silly stuff like Juggernaut, Frenzy, or a second Pro guy. Stats aren't controllable.
2) Budget (5-season) players to keep for sure after each season: 4 the first time, 3 the second time, and 2 every time after that. Include their 20k per season fee, and then add in everything you must take in order to be viable. Whatever's left is your budget for frills.
3) Buy stuff when you must, either strategically or economically (like, if you get a stat's worth), and when it'll give you advantage early or going into a tournament. If you're not sure you want it for the next game, don't buy it. Unless it could be a stat, and then you must, and are thus absolved.
4) Don't be afraid to redraft after 13 or 14 games if a player you know you want to keep is close to statting. They'll be cheaper now, and will get the stat all the same.
5) When you're ready to redraft, try to spend your whole draft budget. If you got a lineman with 3-5 SPP and a spare 40k-50k, don't be afraid to random, in the hopes you get something you'd want to take back. |

4) i wouldn't redraft early, under almost any situation
if a team got destroyed, redraft could save it maybe, but more likely i'd just retire it and start a new one
if you redraft at game 13 etc, u lose ~10-20 SPP per game that u could have carried over into the new season
i wouldn't want to miss out on that
it'd have to some extremely tight budget situation where a stat-up would mean u can then no longer keep the good players u want
5) instead of random before the redraft and make them 20k more expensive to keep, usually i'd rather carry 3-5spp lineman into the new season and skill them up then
it does depend on budget though. some rosters run out of other things they can spend gold on
this will only be an issue on the first redraft. once u are moving s2 into s3+, u probably can't afford a 1-skill lineman with agent fees anyway |

I guess the different oppinions for two such experienced coaches as J. and S. show one thing:
Re-Drafting begins before you hit the button. There may be situations where it can be a good idea to re-draft before playing 15 games and there may be those where a random on a lineman could be wasted. It all depends on your current re-draft budget and the roster you are looking at. But I guess Sp00keyh's point of 'some rosters run out of things' got much more relevant with the 2025 roster updates. |

mmm yea. it begins before you hit the button, indeed
the main point really is, the OP seems to have been taken by surprise and didn't like it
if u know it's coming, u can plan for it, prepare a bit, and it then doesnt hurt as much |

yeah, I suppose I didn't know what to expect. For some other questions that were asked, I'm just playing in competative division, and I'm thinking/trying to get ready for whatever tournaments may be in the division now. It seems really hard to get an experienced team these days.
How do the major tournaments work? do you earn SPP/skills during them? or does the team you enter with stay the same in every game? |

majors and minors have progression
u can enter when in 'Ready' or 'End of Season' state
u then continue to earn spp as normal
after u exit, it may have taken u over the 15-game season limit, in which case u need to redraft before u can play more games |

Redrafting begins at team creation.
Redrafting for the third season also begins at team creation. |
