The "underdogs can add 50k gold from their savings to their inducements" rule GW added to this edition is so dumb. I just had a case (and then did it to someone else) where I was up 10k and the other guy bought 2 prayers and got block and moles (-1 to all of my GFIs) so he was now 20k up plus I had to deal with 3+ GFIs all game. Then I did the same thing to someone else, I got break tackle and the all fouls that break armor are send offs so now the other guy is down 10k and couldn't really foul. |

Correct, its a dumb rule. I'm glad the leagues I play in on the site don't use it. |

Paradoxically, 10k Prayers helps keep this under control better than 30k Prayers. At 30k, they're not worth Petty Cash that will go into inducements, so the Underdog gets massive power potential. At 10k, it's just 30k of overdogging to kinda invalidate the concept. |

Yep its bs...
Though I think the bigger issue is prayers of nuffle have no power consistency between them, and they're really poorly designed. But the underdog spend also sucks as it can give them a wizard when they're 100k below, as well as for the reasons stated.
If prayers were 10k I think we'd likely see 6 in play most games...
They're awful |

Yea it's pretty bad
Particularly at low TV, where another reroll (mascot) or skill (prayer) or KO recovery (keg) can be very influential
It also just seems to be encouraged? as teams will generally end up quickly having too much gold and nothing to spend it on now
I think the idea was probably something like, to avoid someone wanting a keg but only getting 45k so they can round-up a bit and get the keg, which is a nice idea...
But instead it results in games where: I'm 955k and you're 1000k. You don't buy anything. I spend 45+50 and whoops I'm now 1050k and you can't do anything about it |

A (clunky) fix would be perhaps:
- take on journeymen, work out CTV,
determine under/overdogs
- underdog decides to spend treasury or not
- overdog decides to spend treasury or not
determine under/overdogs again (optional?)
- overdog buys inducements
- underdog buys inducements |

They're swingy, and they offer more things you gotta track. In my mind, the latter is awesome, because fighting the mental overload is part of the theme. Swingy is awesome too, because it makes you eat that yucky sandwich despite having to do everything right. This rule hurts my head, and anything that hurts my head makes me stronger, right?
Need to figure out how to get coaches into the thumbscrews, that would make this the best game EVER! Worst part is, I've only started joking just now. I really do like the insanity of trying to remember 6 prayers, because people hate it, and this game is about being forced to do stuff you hate. In any other context, it would be bad design on the grounds that it's annoying and disrespectful of our mental health, but in a game for masochists, that's all pure virtue. |

Hm. I half-see ur point, but the far more critical issue is, extra complexity makes the game a worse proposition for new players wanting to join, without really making it better
over-accommodating for old grognards and competitive tryhards (us) is detrimental to the playerbase
specifically i mean: variance is fine, but more complexity isn't beneficial |

I'd like: underdog may spend gold up to TV difference, overdog can't buy anything. |

...what?
So the underdog could spend even more to make teams even more unbalanced if they have the cash? |

No no, not like that.
Let's make an example:
Coach A has a 1000 TV team;
Coach B has a 1100 TV team;
Coach A may hire Inducements up to 100k (the TV difference).
Coach B can't hire anything.
That would make both teams at 1100 TV (assuming the coach A hires 100k Inducements).
100k is free gold given by the stadium, not spent from coach A's Treasury. |

he just means - no spending of treasury for either team
which kinda means, gold becomes completely irrelevant after 3-4 games |

Yes, correct.
I prefer gold being irrelevant to Inducement scumming.
The Treasury could be capped at 200k without Expensive Mistakes roll. If capped, gold gets more relevant. It's irrelevant when you can hoard huge sums easily.
Some teams earn gold just because their players don't need to be replaced often.
It's not a skill element and should not give a meta advantage |

Yeah, no spending treasury would be best. And let goblins roster bribes. And dorfs now I guess. |

Halflings should be able to roster a Master Chef. |
