Season 2+ Trophy squads made by 4 Season 2+ teams (from GF or Box) which have been just re-drafted (i.e. they have not played a game yet in their next Season).
Each of these teams plays 15 games in the Box as in the BBT (playing a game on GF before ending the 15-game run will froze the team, as in IDT: further games played in the Box by a frozen team won't count for gaining points in BBT S2+). Total 60 games per squad.
edit. if 60 games are too many, a squad made by 2 teams playing 15 games each.
At end of Season 2+ Trophy there is a tournament (like the BBT Steel Gauntlet).
In short, BBT Season 2+ shares the same BBT settings, but uses Season 2+ teams freshly re-drafted, instead of brand new teams freshly created.

If I've understood your suggestions correctly then you'd have Season 2 teams in the middle of a BBT run, yes? Since a Season is 10 games and they have to play 20?
That seems messy. |

my suggestion was that BBT should only be for season 2+ teams  (but you could absolutely just redraft at game 0 if you really wanted that)
not sure why having a redraft mid BBT is messy though? |

It's a BBT meant for Season 2+ teams. I don't find it messy.
The idea is playing 10 games, Re-Draft, playing other 10 games.
Basically, a Trophy with Re-Draft in the middle of the 20-game run. |

Black box has season protection right? A season 1 team can't play a season 2 team. So you'd restrict the number of possible matches either side of the redraft point.
And I bet it wouldn't be an even split between the seasons: there's always loads of teams that play a handful of games and then quit, which would all be Season 1 here. If that's the case you'd restrict the season 1 side of things somewhat and restrict the season 2 side by a lot more. |

10 games would be played in Season 1, 10 games in Season 2. It should be feasible.
If allowing the Season 2 teams to play the next BBT Season 2 Trophy is an issue, then don't allow it.
Make playing with brand new teams a requirement for each BBT Season 2, instead.
With a 10-game Season instead of 15-game Season, Season 2+ teams should not get too big.
The Box Season protection could be removed for the teams participating to BBT Season 2. |

The big benefit to me is allowing teams to continue participating in a site organized meta tournament. I want coaches to keep using the same team for hundreds of games. The current model requires throwing them away. Its the best for pure numbers of games, so i know the idea of keeping teams isn't helpful for the site, and therefore doesn't make sense to get implemented.
But.. i like the history, teams with name recognition. The site currently doesnt have that. |

I like to keep my teams as well, and Re-Draft is a feature of this ruleset.
It should play a role, I think. If you play teams for just 1 Season it doesn't. |

I don't recall stating that.
Pie is part of our history. There must be pie.

But I agree that "Would you like a Season 2+ BBT?" should be a different poll to "Do you like Dakka's idea".
Seasons are unlikely to change to 10 games.
My idea was that only S2+ would be 10/12 games. S1 would remain 15.
Either way, S2+ is likely to remain 15.
More important is to a get a field on the API to indicate that a team was a pure Box team (or not) when it played the game.

I thought it was obvious.
I suggested an idea, but other ideas could work. It was to start talking about it from a sketch.

Well, then no Season 2+ BBT. It would take ages to finish a run. Unless fewer teams were allowed, 2 teams per squad.
Teams could grow too much with 15-game Season, though.
I don't think 15-game Season fits a Season 2+ BBT. |

Your idea:
Season 1 15 games, Re-Draft, Season 2 10/12 games = 25/27 games;
my idea:
Season 1 10 games, Re-Draft, Season 2 10 games = 20 games;
my idea requires to play fewer games in a BBT S2+. 20 games x 3 teams of a squad = 60 games exactly like a BBT run.
With 25/27 games, to stay within 60 games, only 2-squad teams should be allowed (50-54 games). |
