That's right bashers and zons, The World's Edge Mountains Monumental Tournament has started, and was kicked off with a bang and some casualties!

This past weekend saw some great match-ups of up and coming teams, and brilliant coaches. So let's check out some Highlights!

The Karak Kadrin Division completed 7 of its 10 scheduled games this weekend, and the fans poured out in droves to witness some of the momentous match ups.

Like the bloody match between the Fangs of Sotek and the Belerand Brotherhood... By far the largest scoring gap of the first round, the scaly players of Sotek pummeled their way to a 6-0 win over the elves, leaving 1 dead and 2 players seriously injured. Rumor around the Lizardmen's locker room was that "Lustrian Vine Weed (known for its powerful laxative qualities) was smuggled into the Brotherhoods pre-match wine vial by chameleon skink agents." In response to this atrocious defeat, it's rumored the Brotherhood has taken out a contract on the life of the Fang's star Skink, Tehen, who single handedly scored two touchdowns and took out one of the Brotherhoods linemen.

On the other side of the tournament, in the Zhufbar division, fan favorites "Wa wantss the powerss" ran all over the Vampire team Blood Rust, scoring twice, and creating three casualties leaving two of Blood Rust's players missing their next game, and nearly killing another. Powerss runner, The Aprentice was the star of the game, scoring both of his team’s touchdowns, and was voted mvp. The rookie Vampire's were so terrified of the scandalous skaven that they conceded the match, which net the powerss purse a whopping 100k. Definitely a team to watch out for in the 2nd round.

But back to the Karak Kadrin division for our game of the week!

Fan favorites and stunty legends, the "Iron Chef's Dinner Servise" took on "Fury Little Friends" in hopes to prove that Halflings can contend in any tournament blood bowl has to offer. And prove it they did! Even though The Little Friends won the game in a 2-1 victory, The Iron Chef and his boys made sure that their victory didn't come cheap. Fluffy runner Speedy didn't live up to his name, and wasn't fast enough to avoid being slaughtered on the pitch. But the Servise wasn't done there, they continued to pummel the skaven, breaking the legs of Linerat Soveven and sacking one of the Friends thrower's, Tosser. A great game and we look forward to seeing more from the Dinner Servise, as well as the other two Halfling teams in the Tournament.

But the first round isn't over, and we still have room for a few late comers to sign up! Don't miss all the action of the Grudge League, where you can play Blood Bowl like it was meant to be played, and get your Grudge on!

Great start to a great Tournament Blood Bowlers! And we'll see you on the pitch!

(Feel free to post your own highlights of your favorite games from this weekend’s tournament opener)

And a special thanks to all the Spectator's that turned out to watch the games, it added an extra level of excitement to the games as fan's cheered and boo'd their favorite teams, coaches and players.

During the first round, the tournament organisers were confrontonted by a sneaky Skaven assassin, who hissed something about "missed spps" after Plague Ratbros got a free win without an opponent for round 1. We showed him how easy matches the team might have for round 2 in the Zhufbar div (winners are paired versus other winners in Swiss system after round 1): Skaven with GR who has taken block, 1rr Necro with a Block Flesh Golem. Then we compared the situation to the opposing, Karak Kadrin division: TR 125 Chaos team Jacks full of Block, Hell on heels! - amazons with 4 blodgers after first match as well as beforementioned Fangs of Sotek, a superbly started Lizardmen team. Amongst all of these threats there is the puny Skaven team Fury Little Friends, who got seriously mauled by habeli but still managed to win the game due to the Halfling movement being too slow for a quick equalizer TD. Next roiund we will see whether the 9 brave Skaven players will mauled to the ground by the Jacks, gold-loving Dwarves, blodger Zons or Razorclaw Orcs. The betting has begun! Place your bets nooooooooooow! Very Happy Additional bet: how many RIP s more will the wretched Skaven endure in their second match-up?

After this conversation I personally sliced off a finger from the Plague Ratbros lino and told him: Empty slots have been filled for round 2. There are no more BYEs given out! Because the replacement teams applied to the group a day after the tournament begun, they missed round 1 as punishment. Eeeevil, aren't I?

Consolation /hurt -award goes to HeavyMetal's Las Estrellas de Tanelorn, a rookie High Elf team which will face DanTitan76's Am-Khemri-Kanos on round 1. No one's seen HeavyMetal online for the past 6 days but once he gets back, he is in for a surprise! Very Happy

As this is the offical thread I'll copy the match report from the other thread into it (though half of it is mentioned above anyway)

The Fangs have arrived!
An amazing first game for the Fangs to start the World's Edge Monumental Tournament. With only 9 players to start the match it was always going to be a tough matchup for the Belierand Brotherhood.
To further swing the odds in favour of the lizardmen, a large amount of ground Lustrian Vine Weed (known for its powerful laxative qualities) was smuggled into the Brotherhoods pre-match wine vial by chameleon skink agents.
The mixture hit the delicate constitution of the high elves hard, leaving three elves busy with "other duties" at kick-offs and the rest of the team worse for wear.
From there things went even worse at the first kick-off, a quick switch leaving the remaining elves facing a wall of Sauri! With all this against them the Brotherhood was unable to prevent the Fangs scoring early and as players were sent to the dugout the match went more against them. The final result was a 6-0 hammering for the Fangs. How they top this remains to be seen!

Grudge League reporter Emmerich Edelhertz caught up with Slann head coach Xel'naga after the match. Sadly the old coach seemed deep in thought on some grand plan and didn't respond to any questions (perhaps an interpreter is needed). Hopefully they can get some feedback next time!

Da orka winz!!!
Da firzt turn givez a clear 2-0 victory for da Razorclaw fellowz over a team of guyz who think they are elvez and tried playing tumbing themzelvez on the ground. Da zingle thing we did not underztood waz why da teo bigger unz of them where alwayz beating hiz own friendz.... Too eazy againzt a zelf damaging HungryHungryHipnoz team!

Da othar orkz went almozt as good but had a zeriouz problem with Nuffle in the da mozt important final momentz of da halfz. Da blitza ov da team had problemz with deir shoes az they revealed at the end of da match, leaving them with pain in and poor attention in their handgame and equilibria.
A desgasted ocasion, cauz da Flaming Falchion managed to control both of the half againzt one of da mozt respectable fighting people we can play againzt, da Sizzle Fizzle Lizardmanz.

The coach of the heavily tried skaven team Fury Lttile Friends http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=team&team_id=172671 (Still have to learn to make those cool links Sad ) would like to point out the halfings were nowhere near a equalizing TD. The ball was still in skaven hands when the ref blew the whistle. They had been running, hiding and dodging in their on half of the pitch for the better part of the 2nd half, but stayed in possesion all the time.

..as for the future opponents... HA! Bring in on! With still 9 players on the team we can take on everybody!

An exciting second game for the Fangs!
Having won their first match the Fangs were drawn against Nuffle This, a dwarf team that had previously beaten the Plague of Wenches amazons. Playing against dwarves was always going to be tough, years of fighting against goblins giving dwarves a knack at mangling stunty players.

Indeed the dwarves proved this straight from the start when the Sauri front line was knocked to the ground and current top player Tehen found one of Nuffle This' longbeards running full pelt at him! Brutally pulled to the ground and crushed beneath the weight of the dwarf it looked like the end of Tehen.
Thankfully Skink shaman Zas quickly rushed onto the pitch and invoked some of the Old ones sorcery to restart Tehen's reptilian heart.

After this both teams sparred of against each other until an opening allowed the Fangs to sack the dwarf runner carrying the ball and run in an early touchdown. The Fangs then just managed to hold off Nuffle This for the rest of the half, though both saurus and skink went sent to the KO box in doing so.

For the second half a disasterous block early in the half opened up a gap for the skink Quelta to run into to score a second touchdown midway through the second half, effectively securing the win.

Fast reactions from the skinks allowed them to then pressure the ball before it hit the ground on the third drive. Though Nuffle This retrieved the ball the dwarf runner was cut off from the dwarfven front line and eventually the ball was back in skink hands for Tehen to score his third touchdown!

The skinks were the stars of the show for the Fangs in this match, constantly harrassing the ball carriers whilst avoiding the vicious attempts of Nuffle This' longbeards to bring them down.

Grudge League reporter Emmerich Edelhertz again attempted to interview Slann head coach Xel'naga after the match. Though the Slann still didn't answer he did appear to look at Emmerich for a few seconds before returning to his thoughts!

As for the Fangs, it appears Tehen has been learning to take the blocks after his near death experience! Another skink has appeared from the team spawning pool under the World's Edge mountains to join the current roster. There is also talk of something larger slumbering under the waters! Watch this space......

After our long journey we were a little bit tired and we blew our other changes for a TD and that last one was just a skilless and scared rat with a lucky moment in his, or should I say her, pitiful life. We will show our true skills in the next game and I will be there too. Those humies won't even know what hit em...

We played hard against Men of Valor and didn't even avoid using the dirtiest tricks, and that was forth it: we WON!
Now that we have opened our winning streak, we should be able to stick to it and head for the top.

Just ya wait Sappe and his cooking crew will reach higher than anyone else.

This was posted by Drud (as I believe we are now using this thread as the offical one as given by the group page link).

Match report from yesterday, The Jacks VS. Evermore Silver Bullets:

After a very long period with no games for the Jacks, the players had lost their grip of the game. The game started out pretty good. One of the opposing team's Vampires was knocked out, but a thrall managed to get the ball all the way to the end zone. At the next kickoff, the Jacks where inches away from an equalizing TD: Every thrall in the way was trampled down by the team's mad Chaos Warriors, and once the way was cleared, Jack-O-Lantern rushed forward, and if he hadn't failed to pass the ball a few short yards, Jack Daniel's would've ran in for the equalizing TD. The first half ended 1-0. Early in the 2nd half, both Vampires just ran through our defense dodging their way all the way to the ball, grabbed it, and headed for the end zone. All The Jacks could do was slow them down. Halfway through second half, the fighting had finally worn down the fragile thralls, several were injured or knocked out. At the final kickoff, the Jacks formed a cage and ran down field to secure their only goal this match.
Jack of Diamonds, the teams newest Chaos Warrior, who was thrown out from his very first game for fouling a bit too obvious, has gotten his first skill. He's showing some incredible potential and has gotten even stronger than en average Chaos Warrior. Diamonds (as he is called by his team mates) is becoming a real brute. After this defeat several of the new sign-ups for The Official The Jacks' Fan Club betrayed their new team, signed out and started cheering for the Vampire team.

The Fangs of Sotek emerged with their third win of the tournament after a hard fought match against the Razorclaw Orcs.
The start of the match wasn't the best for the Fangs with the orcs choosing to receive the kick and establishing a drive upfield as the lizardman skinks were pulled down trying to escape their markers. However the orc drive soon lost impetus and the Fangs were able to hold off the Orcs until half-time. A quick touchdown by Tehen in the 2nd half put the Fangs in the lead and they then sent the rest of the half holding up the Orc line to finally grind out a 1-0 win!
After the Skink show in the last match the Sauri showed their worth this game in holding up the orc advance. This was especially true in the second half after we went 1-0 up with Sauri keeping the orc blitzers out of the game for much of the second half.
The Saurus Quetzecoatl showed his value the most in stopping the advances of the orc thrower Oagungad and so was handed the team MVP (the first not on a Skink). The experience of facing Black Orcs as strong as himself has shown Quetzecoatl he needs to use his size and strength to break away from opposing players.
Meanwhile head coach Xel'naga seems to be closer to vocal with every win and favoured Grudge League reporter Emmerich Edelhertz with a belch (at least we think it was a belch) during the latest attempts at an interview.
Stayed tuned for more information Grudge League fans!
