While progression and non-progression have their own merits, and shortcomings, may i suggest a hybrid of both...

This is used in many "real life" tournaments, including the Bloodbowl (correct me if i'm wrong!) but you start out with a standard TR100 roster, and you gain no money/FF modifications/player loss over your 5 or so games. What you do gain however, is a skill per match, or 3 skills to give to your team at startup, which throws a nice dash of strategy into the mix! Will you choose Block on a Mummy for your team skill, or will you choose something more interesting (and useful), such as Strip Ball on a Ghoul in the context of the tournament format. This adds a nice little bit of flavour to each team, while giving the safety net againt "one of those games". You will get a team who just loads up on DP, but as injuries dont carry, it doesnt matter. It will also mean that a greater variation of teams will be competitive, especially the elves
Once these teams have played in this format (selected by the tourney organiser), they cannot be undone, the coach can still play games vs other teams of the same format, but not against any progressive teams!

This is of course, all pointless as we dont currently have the necessary coding in the tournament section, but im sure if it was coded, it would not be wasted. I would love to run a tournament similar to the BloodBowl on FUMBBL, with this skill progression, but it is Christers site and if he doesnt want to have that feature, then we send threatening letters in the post Wink

Rob is the man. I dont know why I didnt think if this earlier...

Its a great idea, however I think some people want to have the team after the tourney has finished.

That was already been thought. But if I'm not mistaken, that's not possible to achieve with fumbbl as it is.

Ask Ebenezer for details, he knows better than me.

Non-prog will turn into a battle of skaven v dwarf
I say use the usual format, and let the chips fall were they may

Actually, the hybrid format cant' be used here on fumbbl, you have 2 choices: progr or non prog (tr100). Once I tried to make a non progression tournement with 125tr teams, but there is an error message: "your team as 1 or more match played" or something like that.

So, the Naf-style tournements (Bronwrob idea) can be done only outside fumbbl.
