Team redraft
Once again it is friday and Iam sipping a Johnny walker, thinking, pontificating and in deep mediation on the great game of Blood Bowl but more specifically FUMMBL.
The idea of Redraft.
I look at the long and storied legacy of the Blood Sea Buccaneers and I have noticed that around every 60-80 games the Buccaneers have reset/redrafted their team back down to the 1000-1300 TV range. How can this be you might ask your self. How can a team with almost 1500 games and based on common belief of the peasants who populate this site lived in the 2200-3000 TV range. Well it is very simple.
IF you play a lot of games with one team, they take on injuries, they incur that odd and very unsettling death to your best player or NUFFLE forbid the death of two of them in one game. Thus you are forced to in essence redraft your team and start from scratch.
Iam not against forced redraft, hell I did it all the time as a voluntary action.
The old guys will harken back to the day the Buccaneers got banned for 2 days because they did what no one should be able to do. They fired every player on the roster except their Legend Ogre, played one game with 10 Journeymen lino, played the game and hired all the J-men as standard players and I had all kinds of fun with the fluff of the J-men. The team reset to a TV of 1000.
Heads exploded, blogs where filled with rage and I even got some nice PM's for admins telling me what a bad guy I was and had to suffer a 2 day ban and reflect and contemplate why I would abuse the J-man rule in such a way.
Old teams redrafted all the time. It is what made FUMBBL fun. Forcing me to redraft..........at a 1350 tv? at every 15 games?
Dammit, I need to head back to the corner store for more beer

Random skills are your friend, especially on rookies with low replacement cost, or as second skills on players whose first random skill was marginal. The new Humans meta is to shoot for random secondary Strength skills on linos, keeping the good ones and replacing the bad. That way, you can stuff a maximum amount of good stuff onto your team for the next season. Also, after your Blitzers get either MB/T or Guard, you want to just sock up SPP on them so they're easy to redraft, then explode with new skills across your positional players after game 1 of the second season.

@ Azur, he was just following my lead. I did this, quite publicly, when I made the Ranked Amateurs a former-Journeymen-only team, and nobody complained. Then PainState did almost the same thing not long later, and took a mountain of flak.

Here it is guys from the FUMBBL book of legends and lore. The tale of the Buccaneers from the Ranked forum from years ago. This is what was recorded on that day.
Let me clear the air so to speak about this since it has gotten some coaches briefs turned into thongs over it.
I will state one more time. The plan is to HIRE ALL THE J-MEN after the first match.
I have been wanting to do this for a long time...scrap the entire team and start over from square one.
Mission accomplished in my book. We started game #1 at 1000 TV and now we begin match 1071 at TV 1000.
Plus, come on guys, went from 2260TV to 500TV...I like that fluff.
I have to say I was very amazed at the outcry of injustice from some quarters about J-man abuse and so forth. I could go on a 9 paragraph rant over this but I will restrain myself and just let it go.

All that history of this site, the epic tales, the epic games, the legend coaches that this site has created not just for me but for a lot of you. It was all about R/B majors, open play, no cap TV.
That is why Iam very passionate about the majors and the idea that C/B redraft at a base of 1350TV and so forth. It does not allow FUMMBL to become great once again! we still can have the grand tales and stories of epic teams and epic players, still have those great moments in Major tournaments, upsets, insane plays and sense of community in the biggest League on FUMMBL which is the C/B divs.
That is why Iam very passionate about the majors and the idea that C/B redraft at a base of 1350TV and so forth. I'm with you 100%.
Anybody may play in the 1000-1500 TV range and manage their TV accordingly, if they choose to.
But for me, personally, grinding to slowly build an epic team is the essence of Blood Bowl.
I mostly play Chaos Chosen who are the 2nd worst team on FUMBBL with only a 44% win percentage on average. Hiring costs are high and they start without any skills. The team only comes into its own at TV 1500+.
Re-drafting at 1350 makes it essentially pointless to run Chaos as well as some other bash teams.
Anybody may play in the 1000-1500 TV range and manage their TV accordingly, if they choose to.

TV doesn't mean quite the same thing from one edition to the next. There are lots of ways to control your TV so your rebuild fund goes farther, like random skills and banking SPP for after the redraft.

I agree with you PainState. The arguments you make were all made by me months ago. The counter argument by Christer is that by condensing the player base into a smaller TV range you will have a higher quantity of suitable matchups and for that reason you will have more games played.
I don't agree. Have we seen more games regularly played now in Competitive vs what was played in Ranked before the switch to BB2020?

I agree with you, Kondor, and would like to add an additional layer to your argument: Building high-TV teams doesn't preclude me (or others) from running some lower TV teams. In fact, I'm likely to start a new team once it becomes too difficult to find a match for high-TV squad.

If we want to really increase the number of games played the best way is having an automated Black Box scheduler only in Competitive division.
Gamefinder is just a massive time-wasting screen saver.
About high TV: BB is unbalanced at any TV, more or less, but at high TV the unbalances are worsened (because the TV calculation is crude and the error increases as the TV grows) and the playable races are narrowed down, this is bad for the racial variety, which brings fun and tactical challenges.
So, the idea of keeping in check the TV is positive, but Season Re-Draft is a terrible way to achieve it.
No matter how long you implement the Season Re-Draft, if it happens after few games the strong starting teams with many core skills are favoured, while if it happens after many games the bash teams dominate.
A better way could be making a statistic research (FUMMBL is awesome at gathering data), see which is the TV where most races have the closest win rate, and put a hard cap at that TV. Ideally all the teams should play in the TV range where their win rate are closest.
Instead, if an Amazon or Norse team is allowed to sweetspot and pick too with the GF (not to mention cycling) its win rate will always be skewed.
