I looked at these and it's a shame they are mats and not a board :(

@blocknroll

With matts dont they curl up at the edges be it up the way or down?

Over time this can only get worse, plus a board will fit in my 100 figure carry case better than a rolled up mat :)

well ive had my matt since november and you roll it with printed side out and its fine when you put it down. its some kind of vinyl id guess and seems very resistant to curling etc. your other point is a good one tho :)

I asked tribalsinner about the the curling matt thing (he's the aussie importer for them). He said they're made of a special material, that when you reverse roll it, flattens it out. So that there isn't any curling.

I've seen a picture somewhere of one curling up at the edges, but maybe that guy didn't reverse roll it. The majority of ff field matts around are the matts and look just fine.

Tribalsinner said he preferred using the matts, as the jigsaw type are a bit harder on miniatures (I guess they're textured). I also spoke to Jokaero about them, and he only had good things to say about the matts too.

I also have the mat since november. (World cup! =)

What you need to do is keep it rolled up with the print-side out for storage (so it folds against the table instead of upwards while playing), but then you roll it print-side in for transport (so the print doesn't damage).

The reason I picked the mat is that I expect the puzzle pieces to damage easily. I'm told by others this isn't the case either, though.

Conclusion:

Personally I'd prefer the jigsaw type, however the matt versions are apparently designed not to curl at the edges.

A standard non-custom matt type (being their cheapest version) is outrageously good for the money.

Coolness, one of the logos on the custom fields is the one I made for Team Hellhound :D

Where are you seeing their cost? I can't seem to find any prizing on the site, at all.

Prices qouted from coaches. I also haven't seen an official price structure. I think this is because custom pitches are rather bespoke.

Matt pitches are fine and don't curl if the material is good and you store them in a cylindric case with the printed side outside.

They come with rates at about 40 to 60 €, depending on degree of costumization and number of ordered pitches. Definitely worth it. Very happy with the one got (Team Hellhound)...
