#6 Gimp – Smashed Knee (NI)
SMACKs always produce great, hard-fought games between opponents randomly assigned to play each other and this game was no different!

Purple Nurple took to the field ready for the higher-rated Rookie Tissues though wary of the presence of Count Luthor the Boneheaded.

The first half was a steady offence by the undead, spearheaded by mummy blocks and many fouls by dirty stinkin cheaty zombie Rotitch who was clearly the deceased mother of the ref as he put foul after foul in on my lovely innocent dark elves (haha) while the ref cleaned out the inside of his nose. Some great defending by my dark elves ended when the count stepped in to get the ball. Try as I might I just couldn't dislodge the ball from where it was stuck .. and despite some boneheadedness the undead were able to score on their final turn of the half without much trouble though with much thanks due to Count Luthor.

The second half opened with an undead blitz that led to the count charging past elves and trying to catch his team-mate's high kick. Amusingly he slipped and fell onto some wooden stakes someone had carelessly left on that very spot - ending his game in a puff of smoke! Some standard elfish attack let me score the 1-1 equaliser by turn 3 and the kickoff directly after that gave me a dark elf blitz! I used this to charge up and hassle the ball - Tymless gave me a slight gift by focusing on punching me rather than covering the ball totally and when a wight fell over on a block I was able to dodge support around and then blitz through to score again on my 4th turn of the 2nd half!

At this stage I was well down in numbers but only had to hold off the undead menace for a few turns to win the match. A mishandled pickup by a ghoul once again let me charge in a few fast elves to attempt to sack- it got very close to a 3rd dark elf TD but it wasn't to be this time. On turn 7 Tymless pulled off a great play that freed his ghoul and let him run & pass his way to a scoring position which I was unable to put a stop to.

Overtime and it was 6 dark elves vs a full complement of filthy undead. Uh oh! Things rapidly deteriorated as I dropped to 4 elves by my 4th turn - though I still had the ball out of reach at the back I was wondering how I could score. I went for a dastardy play and managed the hard part (passing to a blitzer in 2 tackle zones) but unfortunately he failed to dodge out for the TD - cursed tackle!

After that it was curtains for the elves, though I managed to dodge n blitz my way to a couple 1d blocks on the ball carrier as he meandered up the pitch.

Was a very fun, tough game & I really enjoyed it! Thanks Tymless (maybe next time you'll be brave enough to face me without the Count ;) )
