“Obba Premiership, Season 8 - Round 3

oryx and I have had a number of encounters now in the OBBA... we have been promoted together, and had some rather intense matches.

Of our 4 games I lost the first one after my Ogre boneheaded 3 times in a row, failing to score. The next two games I won, but only by a 1 TD margin. The 4th game I lost, I felt to a hard nuffling.

This was our 5th game in OBBA, but fate had dealt us different hands... oryx's previous game v's Russo meant he lost 1 Krox and skink, and niggled 2 Saurus... sinking from a healthy 176/169 to 156/113.

My team missed it's second round match due to AndyBurn's absence... and we weren't in too bad shape following our round 1 draw vs Goo's high elves, with only 1 CW mng.

This game, oryx got some indifferent handicaps, with palmed coin, extra training and illegal drugs (+STR saurus). We had been both joking around about oryx pulling out the nuffling of his life vs me... and then I sat back in disbelief as he made good on this threat taking a 1-0 lead.

This made me really step back and reassess... I couldn't take anything for granted vs the lizards. We then set about reducing the offensive threat of the lizards, and we didn't feel our 3 points were safe until the 3rd TD went in. Unfortunately oryx suffered yet more casualty woe after using his apoth early. It really is a back to the wall effort now for him, with a major and slow rebuild required. I was able to skill up a number of players which should certainly help later in the season.
