East Cowes Elite vs Gatcombe Catacomb

A combined FF of 27 made for a Gate of 112000 anxious fans!

Also the Cowes have freebooted The Biter, a Vampire Lord and Gatcombe hired Ramtut the 3rd as some extra muscle. Dont remember what the handicap was.

The Cowes Elite win the toss and choose to receive.
Seems that there were a bit more zombie than vampires fans because first half start of with a Get the Ref! in favor of Gatcombe. But with them kicking the vamps got a chance to minimize fouling opportunities.

Turn one some blocks from the elite get some zombies down, but then in the end they foul zombie Garfik, bh, regen works and Henry is caught be the ref, who clearly has been intimidated by Catacomb fans, and sent of for the rest of the game.

Next turn Ramtut gets a blitz on the Lord leaving him prone. Later that turn Bruin, Gatcombe's Dp gets the boot in with one assist and killed the Lord, regen is on go and Lord will see more gametime.

Quick turnover for the Elite and Ramtut is covering the ball while in turn as Bruin takes out Reginald SI by foul.

Again pretty quick turnover for Elite due to vamp failing pickup in 'Tuts tz. Lord Chase who failed the pickup is nicely stunned by Ramtut in return. And as Alain, +ST Thrall gets Ko'd, numbers were down to seven against ten. And Gatcombe still had to foul this turn, dire. So at end of turn anther block thrall get fouled into the Ko box.

Now the Cowes Elite try in a higher gear, Count Jarvis manages to KO a zombie to make it 6vs9 and possibly get a chance at a TD. But when the lmast vamp needs to feed himself on a prone thall leaving him stunned it looks very difficult stopping a counter. And indeed Gatcombe manages to send of Lord Chase to the Ko box by foul. No strip balling for him. Only two Elite players left on their own half and Gatcombe has got the ball secured and will probably stall the half out.

But then a glimmer of hope for the Cowes fans as they rise from their seats to cheer on Baron Humpledink, the vamps who had to fall back to Ofab, and has now blitzed Gatcombe's wight with 1d and gotten pow stunning him. He follows up manages to dogde out and into two tz's, pickup the ball, dodge out and move 3 squares away. Impressive! Will he manage to stay on his feet? Helas Count Jarvis has less fortune as he 1d blocks a skull result vs Golem Fred Wood.

Wood goes on knocking out Rupert the other +ST thrall, freeing up enough zombies to lend Ramtut 3 assists so he could 3dice Humpledink. Clear pow with stun as result ball bounces into zombie hands.

Vamps now with four on the pitch, on being stunned by last turns foul. Their getting desparte and a failed dodge by Count Jarvis ends their turn 6. Humpledink got the boot from Bruin sending him to the ko box. And only a failed hand-off could ruin the TD.

In the end of half ko box is overcrowded as a thalls is ko'd and the last T8 foul is on Count Jarvis who doesnt show anymore due to box being full. Gerdibald Oglevy scores the TD. 0-1 Gatcome Catacombe.

In the exitement the ref sees a chance to free himself and get back into a more neutral zone.

Ko rolls for Lord Chase, Baron Humpledink and +ST thrall Rupert fail, taking out some of the Elites better players. And they have to kick. 10 vs 11.

Gatcombe is fielding a ghoul and wolf now. Kick-off result is quick snap.
3 unskilled thralls on the LoS. First up is Fred Wood, Ko's Aster, 9vs11. Next up is Stink, +ST zombie, Ko's Geofrey, 8vs11. Last Los thrall gets stunned, Tut then blitzed the Lord, leaving him prone. But he then gets Ko'd by Bruin, who is having a mercifull day as he doesnt seem to do much killing. 7vs11.

Still Count Jarvis isn't gonna sit still while his team gets picked off. As last vamp standing the hope of the fans rests on his shoulders now. He Ko's Worsley again, as he returned at halftime. So its a bit more even now 7vs10.

But then turn 2 for Gatcombe terror strikes Cowes fans harts. Ramtut blitzed Count Jarvis leaving him prone with 3tz on him, then Bruin comes around to boot, it seems he was tired of the game and looking to get cought, as he landed with both feet smack on top of Jarvis face. Instantly killing him beyond the help of regeneration. Ref in disgust immediately banned him from the rest of the game. Gatcombe fans cheered on as Count Jarvis was raised from the dead to join there ranks. 6vs9.

Now its looking terrible and even though zombie Muncher is Ko'd it seems like a lost cause. But all is possible. 6vs8.

Ghoul Pazuzu get a completion to gain another skill and Fanghoul the wolf scored the 0-2 in turn 4.

Gatcombe to kick again and both zombies stay ko'd. On Elite side Humpledink and the +ST thrall Rupert are still out along with the Vampire Lord. And its 9vs11.

Ramtut is knocked down and fouled with stun as a result, but Elite has the ball and will try and score one for the fans!

But as +ST thrall Alain gets Ko'd by golem Fred Wood next turn it seems all is lost. Then Ofab sends another thrall into ko box, but a block zombie follows, they try valiantly but get stopped in their tracks.

In short, Get the Ref! and Ramtut won me the game.”
