After overcoming one lot of relatively weak Chaos Dwarves despite suffering six casualties and then some ‘Battered Rats’ spiced with Russo’s tears (as there was no vinegar available) the ladies of Essetesford were distressed to find themselves drawn against a much stronger Chaos Dwarf team.
This sorry state of affairs came about because some High Elves failed to beat the Chaos Dwarves, as they knew they would take a beating from the girls if they won.
As I am sure you know there is little love lost when the young ladies play the short fellows of either persuasion. So with this in mind the renowned ‘Zara the Slayer’ was hired at great expense along with a disreputable looking wizard to ensure victory.
With the Chaos Dwarves kicking off first half the girls steeled themselves to take so early knocks. So imagine the shock when Zara was seen to fall to the ground having been hit by what looked like a powder puff and then leave the field due to an apparent foul by a Hobgoblin wearing tennis shoes! (It should be noted she remained in the dressing room until the final whistle having done nothing whatsoever in the game, and only emerged to collect her fee and the MVP)
Immediate thoughts of underhand goings on however proved to be unfounded, as with the ball deep in the backfield and with a combination of the girls getting in behind the Dwarf line and ‘God’ having a Bone Head off day the girls got in an early counter attack. While this did not result in immediate success the help of the wizard eventually allowed a turnover score for 1-0 at half time.
Receiving in the second half and with the dwarves suffering the higher rate of casualties and knockouts and despite the help of ‘Hthark the Unstoppable’ the inevitable 2-0 result was wrapped up. At this point it was beginning to look like some outside force was in fact working for the girls and not against them.
Investigations are ongoing but there has been a suggestion of match fixing by a former league commissioner who can’t be named for legal reasons. Evidence is scanty but the said commissioner was believed to be trying to make arrangements to play Essetesford town in the final at least two rounds before the teams were decided.
