“The Maniax took the field against some pretty tough Orcs called Facepuncher City. We had the crowd behind us and won the toss, so elected to kick. This has been beneficial to me more times than not when teams are close to even, and today was one of the good days. The orcs pressed forward and were dishing out punishment. I couldn't stop the first score, but I forced it to happen quickly. Gutsmack made a nice dodge between a lot of TZs followed by some GFIs, and ChronicY2K1 fell down trying a similar move to mark Gutsmack. Seriously Jordan, how do you make the hard 3+ dodges and fail the 2+ dodge? Oh yeah, because you rolled snake eyes. Well, the hu-Maniax rallied and scored before half time. In fact, they scored a bit too early and actually had to defend against a 2nd score, but fortunately the orcs were out of rerolls and it caught up to them. 2nd half the hu-Maniax received and were able to get on the board a 2nd time. We took more time on this drive, as we were having trouble putting Gutsmack on the ground. But once we finally did, he stayed out the rest of the game. Unfortunately, so did Big Teddy Roosevelt Potts. The numbers game was slightly in favor of the Face Punchers the entire time, but they had more key players in their dugout than we did. Last kick off and we where down 10 to 8 trying to prevent a score with something like 4 turns remaining. Skarsgreg, the thrower evaded Mantis' Diving Tackle beautifully and made a pass to snozzle the goblin, who thought he was free and clear to the endzone. Rashaan thought otherwise, but it took him 2 tries to get snozzle on the ground. Even then he only managed a KO. Jordan had come over to assist and caught the loose ball, then took off for the endzone. In a last heroic effort, the brilliant Troll, Gribblewort the Third (there is no 1st or 2nd, I asked) blitzed Jordan with 2 GFIs. However, he had no rerolls and only managed 3 pushes. Jordan easily dodged free to score on T8. The Facepunchers set up for a TTM last ditch TD to save face, and the hu-Maniax lined up to prevent it as best they could. The kick did the trick, landing in a spot that no one could pick it up and hand it off to snozzle, even with 2 gfis. So the orcs settled for punching our faces in, but even that fell short. Only Grosnag and snozzle managed any takedowns, and snozzle had to go down himself to get Claymore on the ground. Thus a very exciting game ended. Too bad the fans had all left at halftime to watch the Liga match between Real Madrid (go Real) and Barcelona. Winnings were abysmal, and I even rerolled mine (snake eyes!). So while we pulled off a gutsy win, we were plagued by subpar dice right up to the very end. Ah well. No new Blitzer to replace Chaka just yet. And no perms, 2nd game in a row for me with everyone back for next game.
