2nd round, first game of fumbbl cup
i took the most conservative ("pixel-hugging") inducements - a babe (+1 to KO rolls) and an extra apothecary. i thought about going babe + mercenary beastman with guard, as it happened i only really needed 1 apoth so guard would have been good to avoid putting my warriors in front of mighty blow fists, and to potentially get more block dice on the go for my claws. anyway...

i win the toss and go first, he sacrificed 3x snotlings to the line-of-scrimmage to avoid me clawing the ogres, i got 'quick snap' and moved forward over the half way line. my main killer with frenzy rolls both-down on his first block so he's now 1 step over the LOS and i wont be able to protect him from blitzes. i secure the ball with beasts ogre turn 1, they blitz my killer, bonehead but re-rolled and killer is out with miss-next-game. early apoth fixes him up ok though.

ogres engage fully, i slip most of the beastmen away down the side and try and get some blocks with my tackle-beast on the snots (fairly successfully) and with my remaining claw on the ogres (totally unsuccessfully) most of the ogres are in a scrum with my warriors in the middle of the pitch, but gradually they start making their way into the corner i'm holding the ball in, forcing me to push them back with wrestle beasts ogres run out of re-rolls trying to break-tackle into my screen, i score in turn 8

2nd half, teams mostly undamaged he gets the ball on his +move ogre, but i've slipped around his lines and pressure it quite hard. i commit all my guys to contact to tie up the ogres (expecting it to be costly) and go in for a -2db blitz using a rookie beast. a number of failed boneheads here spares me being pounded, but the ball blitzes free and is heavily supported by players. however there's a blitz route in for my frenzy killer to get -2db on the ball carrier, which just results in pushes twice. i'm still fully in contact with his ogres and have 2 guys marking the ball though. ogres need to clear my players off the carrier, but a failed bonehead when blocking away my killer means i can now -2dice him with potential to surf, however i get bothdown / powpush and my ball carrier beast scoops the ball and retreats into my half and to safety. some point after this my claw guys actually achieve a CAS

next turn a failed breaktackle blitz means the ball is safe to proceed into ogre's half, but turn 7 sees Arnie bull-rushing back into proximity so i have to score turn 7 to avoid his blitz, sealing the fate of the ogres. last turn the ogres fail a throw-team-mate score, and i use my second apothecary to prevent miss-next-game on a rookie beast, so that i retain a 12 man squad for the next game.

thanks for the game :-)
