#8 Summer Sally – Gouged Eye (MNG)
Warpstone Open XI - Third Round:

Every tournament there are games where you just do not have the dice...and this was certainly one of those.

First half started off with the elves getting a blitz and SI'ing one of my beastmen on the blitz. We responded by snaking our 2+ pickup of the ball. We continued to fail utterly all drive with another snakes allowing the elf blitzer to -2d our ballcarrier and the ball tumbled around into the arms of some elves who stalled a few turns before the defensive TD. Forunately, there was just enough time that we managed to score - although we were playing a bit poorly - on tilt perhaps because of the dice, but got the good rolls we needed on turn 8 to salvage the half at 1-1.

Second half started with 11 chaos vs 10 elves and the score 1-1 and they had the ball...then an elf lineman POW our ST 5 blodge chaos warrior for a CAS and the numbers were even...then quickly the elves had more players on the field. At this point the elf seemed assured of victory. Then the elf catcher did not use fend against our frenzy player - allowing an extra block which was a KO - the elf coach called out the apoth. Then the play of the game, the elf thrower was one space off from where he should have been, so the arc of the pass downfield passed by our chaos warrior, Asher. Well, sometimes 6s happen. This was one of those times - Asher intercepted the pass and the rest of the half was a mad fight with Asher dodging and blitzing as needed to stay free of the elves, and a foul to remove the legend catcher with a KO helped to seal the game.

Overall, it was an excellent game by the pro elves, they were aggressive and their armor held up so they were in good shape, if not for the interception they had the game easily won. As it is - the interception turned the tide of the game and we advance to the qualifier finals.
