#2 Kristin Hanselmann – Pinched Nerve (MNG)
A disappointing show of fans in the Pool tonight, as 14000 Crimson shirts face 15.000 Grizzlies fans. Nevertheless, Cascade comes into the match with a lot of confidence. Their squad is fully manned, and they have a 4 game winning streak, while the Grizzlies come from a rough debacle against the Eagles, and are short big guy Lee Roy Salmon and have three fresh rookies with them, catcher Sandy Stephens, thrower Chase Daniel and lineman Champ Bailey.

The rain is pouring down and may explain why Cascade fans are staying home. Grizzlies fans, most of them having come from Praag, are hellbound to see their heroes anyway, and are possibly more used to pouring rain... Cascade wins the coin toss and decides to start kicking. Ball could have been kicked deeper, but not a bad kick by Grompfel, and Amaro fails to pick up the slick ball. Cascade advances slowly on their riht flank with Dagfinnsdottir, Latimer and Turbin, so Amaro picks up the ball and breaks to Grizzlies right side. Hanselmann, Sternberg and Inga steps forward to stop them, but Sternberg is KO'd and Amaro advances to the right sideline. Inga and Hanselmann cooperate to surf Unitas and put pressure on the Grizzlies ballcarrier, and Amaro has to retreat backwards. Grizzlies come back strongly, though, and as Easley KO's Latimer, the Cascade defense crumbles and Hanselmann and Dagfinnsdottir are stunned as Amaro runs past them, protected by blitzers Mick and Austin. Inga sends lino Dave Herman off badly hurt, but Grompfel's desperate blitz attempt fails and Wetherspoon sends Hanselmann off with a pinched nerve as Amaro scores. 1-0 Grizzlies, but there is still time for Cascade to score. TJ and Anders are brought onto the field, but the Grizzlies puts up the Perfect defense and tries to block the TJ run. Cascade puts Mitchell in a scoring position on the right flank before Inga tries the pass to TJ. The pass is good, but TJ fails the catch. The ball bounces, and Amaro runs forward and snatches the ball, and dodges away with it, but fumbles the pass to Austin Sefarian-Jenkins. The ball is loose, but covered by three Grizzlies tackle zones, and Cascade can't get to it. Thus ends the half...

Before second half, Cascade staff is still optimistic. In addition to Lee Roy, two more Grizzlies are out, one of them guard player Robert Griffin, while Cascade only misses seriously injured rookie blitzer Kristin Hanselmann. Cascade are receiving and the rain has stopped! Cascade advances slowly, but when Whetherspoon on the Grizzlies right flank is stunned, Cascade shifts to advance on that flank and Hughes KO's rookie quarterback Chase Daniel. Austin and Mick shores up the flank, so Cascade shifts to the other flank where Dagfinnsdottir is the ballcarrier protected by Ballard, Hughes and Turbin. Amaro sends Ballard off badly hurt, though, and Turbin is pushed backwards, so Dagfinnsdottir is suddenly exposed. Once again Cascade shifts flank, but progress is minimal and the protection is not good enough, so Hamilton gets around Sternberg and sacks Dagfinnsdottir. She is sent of KO'd and the ball is loose. Hessel manages to ush Hamilton away from the ball, and Billy Winn picks it up, but Cascade is now surrounded and outnumbered. A plucky Cascade offense push forward but the Grizzlies are tough and refuse to give up without a fight. Suddenly, just as time is winding Down, Billy Winn breaks free and runs to the right again, but Hoffman snakes the dodge and falls over. This leaves Billy Winn utterly exposed, and Mick holds him while Hamilton blitzes, and Billy Winn musts be carried off the field badly hurt. Amaro takes care of the loose ball, and completes the short pass to Mick who is in a more protected position. Hughes send Unitas off badly hurt, and opens a path for Gräbner and Turbin, who blitzes Mick. However, there is no Cascade player to pick up the loose ball, and no one in scoring position, so the match ends 1-0 to the Grizzlies.

A poor performance by the Cascade who seemed unable to perform to their best. A plucky Grizzlies team fought hard and played smart and did not seem to miss Lee Roy one bit. Well done, Grizzlies! We look forward to meeting you again next season!
