#21 Paul Clumsyorc – Dead (RIP)
Well, this has to be the strangest game I've playing in a long time.

I received. Then one of my loners was killed by a thrown rock. Then the treeman took root on his first block. Then I ended the turn with the ball quite far down near the dark elf endzone after scooping up a KO and a BH along the way. Not bad for a first turn, I thought, even with the tree staying put.

After that the game turned upside down. First one of Sithi's players just disappeared. We tried reloading, but he refused to reappear, so Sithi very nobly offered to play on regardless. It was a messy half, with the wood elves failing to do anything as simple as pick-up the ball, or make a 2-dice block, or dodge, or any of those other things the elves are supposed to be good at. To be fair, the dark elves were also struggling, and about the only thing Sithi could do successfully was break my armour. It was a long, slow slog, and Sithi finished off the half in style by failing a simple pass for the score.

So, second half... The treeman faied his first take root roll again - meaning he didn't actually move for the entire game - and the injuries and turnovers continued for both sides. At least now Sithi had his AG5 lineman back though, so he could at least make a couple of quick passes. And then finally, after a combined 29 turns, two elf teams finally managed a score between them when the dark elves finally made it into the woodies endzone.

That gave me two turns to find an equaliser - no easy task with half the team injured or KO'd (still, it was the more useless half, so I was at least in with a chance). Just to make things worse, we got pouring rain on the kick-off, but that was ok - my passing game can cope with it and rather that than a blitz, or Perfect D...or another throw a rock!

Same plan as before: clear a space for the catcher who pegs it downfield as far as possible and hopes he's out of range of the slower dark elves. And he makes it, thanks to yet another timely failed gfi from Sithi.

So this is now my fourth draw in a row with this team, but whereas a couple of the other ones were thanks to stalling opponents not making sure of the result and allowing me a sneaky final-turner, this one was pure luck after a lot of hard slog. Honestly, I think Sithi probably deserved the win, especially if he'd had his invisible AG5 player for the first half - he would have made all the difference.

A tough game against a tough opponent, and I'm looking forward to a rematch soon.
