Season 35, Game 4 (opening week of In-Conference play)

(11) UNC-Charlotte vs. (23) Hawaii

I elected to kick, as I much prefer playing defense in Blood Bowl. I struggle far more on the offensive side, which is odd, seeing as how I just want to pass and score.

I flooded the sides with a few players into the back field when Bull's Catcher failed his first pick up attempt. The first block of the game from the Humans was a BH against my MA5 Guard, so it looked a bit auspicious. When Bull's Catcher bobbled the ball a 2nd time, I was there to scoop it up and managed to hang out one turn before Matthew-Sharsh threw a Quick pass TD to Travon Killins. 1-0 Hawaii.

It may very well have been 1-1 at the end of the 1st, if it were not for a failed GFI attempt from the Sprint Catcher. Those Catchers this team has are really good. You have to constantly think about how you can keep them from moving 19 in a single turn. Nonetheless, 1-0 Hawaii at the end of the first, with Hawaii receiving.

The ball came down right behine the LoS. I had hoped to clear a bit of dudes from around the ball, and make an un-tagged cage. My blitz, however, rolled skull/skull-pow. Reroll: skull/skull-pow. Down I went. The Niners grabbed the ball, and formed a cage just behind the line. I decided that this was the time to press it. Both SideSteppers and two Catchers came up to try to lock that cage in position long enough till I could find a way into it. I got my shot the next turn, where I chain pushed by Side Step Tackle Blitzer off of the Ogre Guard, and set up a 1d block on the ball-carrying Catcher. It freed the ball, and it bounced further back into the hands of the Side Step/Dodge Blitzer, Travon Killins. With the only Tackle piece for the Niners having been injured late in the 1st (Catcher Mekel Ealy broke his arm), the ball didn't find its way out of Killins' hands.

Hawaii had to obey Hawaii Rules, however, so Ealy dodged out from where he was to arrive in the end zone. Killins dodged out to hand the ball to a now-free Zach Daniel, who threw the Long Pass for a TD. 2-0 Hawaii.

We tried desperately to keep it a shut-out, but the KO's came late in the 2nd, and we just ran out of dudes to keep the Normers out of the goal. 2-1 Hawaii at the end.

All in all, it felt like a pretty well-played game. I did what I could to slow the Humans on defense and took my shot when I had one. This time, it worked out. Other times, it hasn't...

Hawaii (1-2-1) now moves to week 2 to face BYU.
Charlotte (2-1-1) takes on Northern Virginia, a team on a 2-game unbeaten streak.

ZACH DANIEL WATCH: Zach is now 19 yards away from breaking the all-time NCBB Passing Yards record.
