Ended up interesting to the final turn, but a self destructing first half saw the win pretty much taken away from the lads.

An abysmal bashing performance by the lads first half (terrible blocking pow ratio compared to the herd) saw them up against it straight away, despite the kickoff advantage. Falling down everywhere and wearing an injury and ko's to their best players (both elforcs included) without even so much as returning a single favor (no ko's or injuries despite all the bashing!), as well as no success with dodging and fighting a 75% luck percentage there was not much chance of stopping the try that took the herd to 1-0 at half time. In hindsight there was one move that I contemplated in the game that might have stopped the onslaught, but fighting against such a revved up herd, it may have been moot anyway.

The second half started running away as well. Both KO's failed to come back, another reroll to the herd and an excellent catch by the herd off the kickoff. More ko's sent a bob and the goober to the bin, stompa was stupid for the first two turns and then stompa double skulled an important first block turnover - it looked pretty much wrapped up. Thankfully they rallied and showed a bit of pluck, running away with a risky try in turn 6.

With frantic runs, both teams excitedly sprinted for the trylines seeking the winning try, but all to no avail as the game petered out to a draw.

Good game oz, the herd played well, bashed like dwarfs and played the ball like elves (five successful pickups often in tackle zones and a completion - all without a reroll!). With the roll they were on in the first half, you had them herding me into a corner and applying the pressure very artfully. Not much the lads can do against that.

Twahnlows:

3pts: Nebekanezer - what an awesome performance. He was quite literally the key that let the herd run away with the try. Always in the thick of the action near the ball in the first half. Four times he was blocked with two dice and four times he remained standing. In return he managed to KO an important player in the action. A thorn that never allowed the Krasherz a chance to get on top.

In the second half Neb carried on with a successful ball pick up and a catch to show that he wasn't just a regular meathead short of a Mac and then drew the double skulls from Stompa. Only in Turn 16 was he finally KO'd out of the game after a really big workload.

2pts: Taller: Didn't play his usual role with claws as the blood goat. Instead made two important ball pickups in tackle zones. The second one all the more important as it stopped a late try prospect from the Krasherz.

1pt: Gone - Tough one here, had thought of giving it to Lions - a reliable (didn't go wild when it mattered) top blocker for the herd and kicked in with the valuable ko's. A great effort for an understrength mino. Ended up giving it to Gone for the flawless ball handling all game. Ran away with the try and drew the failed blitz while he had the ball.

TWAHNLOWS

3Pts #4 Stompa This troll had his grim moments...but in the second half it was all his work that caused the trouble for the Herd...and eventuallly freed up the Orcs to score. His hit on Neb...followed by a KO on the next turn was the big swing they needed.

2Pts #14 Redd'n Roll'n The blitzer was unlucky (along with every other Orc) in that he couldn't break armour...but he was always throwing the hits that caused trouble.

1Pts #2 Konondrum The thrower that got tough when it mattered. First half saw him with a chance to put a hit on Gone and save the TD..but he skulled out . In the second half he survivied 2 attempts on his life by none other than Taller...and stayed with the ball long enough to throw the TD pas that tied it up.

Was indeed a good fun match! We got a lucky break in 1st half and scored..they got their hits on in second half and scored...simple as that really.
The main key was we were able to keep the elfOrcs out of the game. (one BH...one KO til last 2 turns) and that saved a heap of trouble. Were this Chaos team ever able to actually hold on to the ball when they get it (ie...it seems EVERY hit against our ball carriers succeeds!) maybe we would be legends..but alas hooves weren't meant to cradle the rock ;-)
Thanks for the fun Snorri!
