Jerkovic was a part of Hajduk's golden generation. He was choosen to the Hajudk's team of the century. Playing for the "Bili" he has won 3 Championsships and 5 Cups. With 28 years he left to FC Zürich (Swiss), where he played 7 years. He was one of the best forign player in the Swiss league. With Zürich he won once the Swiss Championship and one cup.

Jure "Jurica" Jerkovic was described as one the last romantic footballers around these parts. He was loved by the fans and many still believe today that he was one of the best footballers in Hajduk history. His number 10 is still today given to only the best players in Hajduk and those who decide to take it must prove that they are worth it.
