The royal house of Syndar Goldsyn founded and continue to fund the team. After it was decided that the team would join the BCL the royal family hired Gridironman to coach and manage their franchise. Historically, the team only played other high elf national teams in the REN (Royal Elf National League). They were top contenders and won the most championships during their time there. For the past 300 years prior to joining the BCL they played in a league comprised only of elves called the EPL (Elven Premier League) that they never felt suited the prestige of the Longbows; who remained the winningest team there but were less dominant than they were during their REN days (some say they players were less motivated to play common elves, but outsiders contend that the competition was better). When King Eduan Goldsyn heard that the BCL was selecting the best teams across the world to join its ranks he knew that his team more than qualified, unfortunately their 3 games a year pace of play was called into question until an excessively sizeable inducement convinced the BCL that they could keep pace with longer seasons against other quality opponents. The team is comprised only of those of noble status.

The Longbows are a club that is regimented based upon Syndar’s rigid caste system. Only those related to the royal house may play as a thrower. There was a time when only heirs could play as quarterbacks, but this was discarded prior to joining the BCL when a Attiles Goldsyn was mauled to death by a rampaging rat ogre with the king in attendance. Some say the king may have even blinked, such a show of emotion from their leader caused many high elves to briefly look at the ground quietly in a sign of immense grief. Those related to dukes are eligible to play as catchers. The eligible wideouts were expanded after the mauling of Attiles. The logic followed for the counts who provide the team blitzers and minor lords for the linemen. The Longbows like the long ball.

The longbows prefer a dynamic mobile air raid offense. Threats downfield are the style of play that most excite the fans, in fact, high elves have been known to nod in excitement at times and even politely clap. The golden arm of their captains of years past have a knack for landing in the soft pampered hands of their silver streaking wide receivers. Their otherwise unimpressive linemen will race downfield to provide an essential block resolutely. Blitzers have been used less as defensive tools but much more so as a kind of tight end. Their only goal is to light up the scoreboard. The Longbows like to play a conservative defense.

There is no other way to put this, their defense is awful. They have been known to swarm the ball in a mobile kind of defense or run interference. Truth be told, they tend to capitalize on their opponent’s mistakes more often than carrying out an impressive series of defensive stops. If anything they want to play more offense more than anything. In fact, they see defense as pre-offense or plays that will develop into an offensive attack. This has had its downsides in the past, but it provides for exciting matches nonetheless. The Longbows are kitted out with top of the line equipment due to being owned by Eduan Goldsyn.

The Royal Syndar Opera Hall doubles as a Blood Bowl pitch. In fact, home games are oftentimes sold out and completely purchased by Syndaran nobles because other fans are not necessarily sold to or wanted even if they could afford the price at the gate. This has since changed after joining the BCL which forced them to sell at least half their tickets to fans of their opponents even orcs. Some opposing players have said that the lack of noise at times throws them off their game. The Syndaran high elves strive to be the best, because they believe they are the best. Unlike most high elves they enjoy proving it. It seems that the BCL has appealed to an otherwise haughty breed of Bloodbowl fan.
