Bob: Hi Blood Bowl fans. Tonight we look at the upcoming semi final matchup between the Kraut Surfers and the Athel Loren Guardians.
Jim: Lets look at the Kraut Surfers coach Frankenstein first eh Bob?
Bob: Sure Jim, this team is coached by Frankenstein. He has the highest CR of the two and he as won a few SMACK tournaments, but all at pro and elite level though none at this level Jim. He has a good record but not brilliant record with dwarfs against wood elves 6/3/2 and but a very good casualty rate of about 4 to 5 a game.
Jim: So there could be blood and lots of it Bob, that’s my sort game.
Bob: Yeah Jim I’m drooling just thinking about it, mmm blood.
Jim: What about Malthor, Bob how does he line up?
Bob He has the lowest CR of the remaining coaches but he has been to three Major finals in the past, losing two in overtime coin tosses.. He specialises in winning SMACKs at the legendary level which says he is good at coping with the demands of high level Blood Bowl. However, it has been suggested by some he just creates the most powerful teams. That maybe true but he will have that advantage again here. He has never played Dwarves with any of his Elven Teams before so there is no form to speak of which may prove to be a weakness. So he will be in new territory on that front.
Jim: Have they ever played each other before?
Bob: No this will be their first match up. They did compete for several months for the top CR 3 years ago and both held the top spot for many months.
Jim: How do the teams line up Bob?
Bob: Well numbers wise Jim, the dwarves have 13 fit players but the wood elves have 14. The Dwarves have two niggling injuries and the Wood Elves one.
Jim: Do any significant players have niggling injuries Bob?
Bob: Mason Hammersmith for the Kraut Surfers stands out as the Dwarves only DP so if he niggles it will be significant loss. The niggled Wood Elf would be no great loss.
The real question is whether Malthor will sack Araldar Summersong now that this great but niggled player has picked up a -MA and is missing the game. Dropping him would open up space for star player like Jordell or Deeproot!
In the battle up front the Dwarves have 8 guard players to Woodies 6.
Jim: That's an amazing number of guard players for Wood Elf team Bob?
Bob: Yes it is Jim and means the Dwarves will not have their usual massive guard advantage they would normally have over Wood Elves
The Guardians have a massive 11 blodgers, but the Dwarves have 10 tacklers, 4 with mighty blow these could reek significant damage on the brittle elves and hamper their abilty to get away from the Dwarves. If they fail to get way from the Dwarves for a turn or two and tied up they could be in for whole lot of pain.
Jim: If there is one player each coach would love to kill who would it be Bob?
Bob: Well I’m sure Frankenstein would love to claim the scalp of Caldoris Thundercall. That STR 5 wardancer of doom. Oh yeah
Jim: I‘m sure he would Bob, and who do you think Malthor will target number 1 on his foul list?
Bob: Well it could one of the pair of +str Dwarves but neither of them has mighty blow, so for me it would be Mason Hammersmith. He has mighty blow, tackle, dirty player and guard, a combination of injury causing skills that needs to leave field as quick as possible. His removal would leave Malthor without an opposition DP to worry out. Though he could try to take out the AG3 players as there are only 3 and without them the Dwarves would struggle to carry the ball. If he fouls like last time he could have em all.
Jim: Do you think they will be hiring any stars?
Bob: Well the Elves have already gone and got themselves a wizard to shatter Dwarf pockets. For the Dwarves I expect to see Grim Ironjaw. If Araldar Summersong goes he could have space for Deeproot - a LOS to be feared! Deeproot would reduce the ability to do damage to the Wood Elves and trap the Dwarves on the LOS at each kickoff. But he might want to conserve his cash for the final and make sure he can afford a wizard and star then.
Jim: How do think the handicaps will affect the game Bob?
Bob: Well with a good set of handicaps Malthor may be not able to field 11 players. But Doom and Gloom would be really bad with all that tackle out there. Something tells me Malthor is going need those rerolls. It would mean he would be less likely to have taken control of the match by the end of the first half and could become vulnerable as the KO’s and cas start to take hold.
Jim: So your prediction for the score?
Bob: 3-1 to Malthor if the handicaps are not devastating. I don’t think the Dwarves will be able to stop the Elves scoring on their own drive and he will use the wizard to shatter a Dwarf attack. Once he is two up I think he be more relaxed in his defence trying to conserve his team for the final resulting in an exchange of touchdowns at the end.
