RE: To Skill a Saurus
This is a response to DrDiscoStu's To Skill a Saurus.
Edit: If you haven't read the above post, please read it before this one, just to put mine in context.

Stu's post is great, and has some very sound advice in it. While I haven't got that much experience with lizards, there are a a few things I do differently. So, to give you a bit of food for thought, and some alternative approaches to try, I figured I'd put together a post of my own.

Because it's so hard to get general skills, sometimes it is worth taking tackle as first skill. By the time you get to TR200 or so, there are a few blodgers in pretty much all ball playing teams, and if you only have 1-2 players with tackle, you'll be hard pressed to get them in the right position to be used. Similarly, sometimes it is even better to have a tackle/break tackle blitzer than one with block/tackle, or block/break tackle ... block is overrated - it's a great skill, but you don't have to give it to everyone.

Dodge is also a great skill - most teams only have a few tacklers, and these are usually chasing skinks, which makes a ST4 player with dodge much better than it would be on an orc or dwarf team (for example).

Whenever possible, score with saurus. This is much easier once they get break tackle (AG1 players are pretty easy to tie up). As long as you have RRs to spare, the odds of picking up the ball are better than 50% (5/9), so if it is sufficiently secure, it is well worth trying. Also, a ST4 ball carrier is generally much harder to knock down than a skink, and if you absolutely have to, you can always hand-off to a skink to make the TD. Hell, I even used a TD to get my kroxigor his first skill. If you use saurus to score, +AG suddenly becomes a whole lot more attractive, as does sure hands (I would love to have a block/dodge/sure hands saurus to carry the ball) ;-)

I would also consider taking kick as a later skill on a saurus. Lizardmen teams benefit greatly from having a kicker, and while it is a bit of a luxury to take it on a saurus, it is better than taking shadowing (imho).

In a team where most saurus are skilled, it is worth considering mb as a first skill. Yes, block is safer, but all your opponents will have block too, so it generally won't earn you a whole lot of SPPs to get you up to that 2nd/3rd skill faster.

Finally, I generally don't have any pure blockers on the team. Against most bash teams, you can't face them on the LoS anyway (not enough guard, and generally out-numbered unless you bring the skinks into the fray). Often against bash teams, I'll put players with break tackle on the LoS (krox + 2 saurus) - then when they stand up, they can dodge back a square and reduce the number of hits you take. For me, Lizardmen teams are all about the unique combination of speed + power, and without the mobility provided by break tackle, it's difficult to take real advantage of their speed.
