Black Ark Starting Roster & Tactics

"To sail with a Black Ark is one of the greatest honours that any Druchii could ever aspire to.” - TEILANCARR, DRUCHII CORSAIR.

Variation 1

  • 2 Dreadblades
  • 1 Doomreaver
  • 8 Corsairs
  • 3 Rerolls
  • Total 1000k

Variation 1 skips Kraken Helms in your starting roster in favour of 3 rerolls. Your Dreadblades are the best players (without much competition) so you want them early, and skilled as quick as possible. Doomreavers are excellent throwers. Add the Kraken Helms later.

Variation 2

  • 2 Dreadblades
  • 1 Doomreaver
  • 1 Kraken Helm
  • 7 Corsairs
  • 2 Rerolls
  • Total 970kk

Like Variation 1 but drops a reroll in favour of one Kraken Helm. Personally? I think Krakens are of little use and bloaty in a rookie roster, but they are slightly tougher than your linos.

Variation 3

  • 2 Dreadblades
  • 2 Kraken Helms
  • 7 Corsairs
  • 2 Rerolls
  • Total 990k

Drops the thrower for an additional Kraken Helm. Adds another AV9+ player but removes your throwing game. If you prefer a mobile running game, this might be for you. Any of your Corsairs can be a ball carrier.

Ever had the urge to play Wood Elves, but without Wardancers, Catchers or a Treeman? Well, with Black Ark corsairs, you can! Your starting line up usually very similar to a team of Wood Elf linemen, with starting skills that can help you when blitzing, passing or maybe catching, and little else. You have, of course, 2+ dodging and mass MA7, so that's what you need to use. Get multiple receivers in scoring positions and try to spread your opponent around. Limit blocks against and with cunning and luck you should be able to score. On defence, step back, limit contact and elf-screen. Development-wise, they all need Dodge as fast as possible. This will stand them in good stead in a lot of SL games where Block and Tackle is in short supply.
