Background
Chaos Imps are know as Least Daemons, lesser than lesser Daemons, the least of the least. Born from loosed emotions and taking the form of their dark gods followers in one sense or another. Bubo are akin to smaller Nurglings born from sickness. Fearlings small flaming horrors born from anarchy. Malice like a tiny albeit ferocious Chaos Warrior born of rage, and Muse resembling a miniature beautiful maiden born of desire. Then there are the undivided Imps, small winged devilish creatures born from mayhem.
As Blood Bowl became the all encompassing sport it is today - Imps born from the fans and players chaotic thoughts were brought into existence by their patron gods and sent forth to play their unique, childlike and chaotic version of the sport. The hordes of titchy imps decked out in tiny Blood Bowl equipment and armed with Chaotic weapons, flying through the air like a chaotic circus immediately became a fan favourite's spectacle and Imp teams are now found throughout The World.
Rationale
The design goal of this team was to make a fun Titchy team, more in line with my original vision for Snotlings, before they were turned into an official roster. Sadly the official roster had some poor design choices in my opinion. Firstly I do not like low cost linemen, players should just be costed very low if that is their value. If you make their TV zero then people just abuse inducements and the team becomes a meme team, based around 2 star players and some bribes, which is not really a Snotling team. It is a star player team with some fodder. Secondly I did not like the stat line for the pump wagons, I didn't find them particularly fun or useful. Finally - some of the other players like stilty runners weren't really much use. It was quite underwhelming.
In terms of designing Imps I first decided on the specific Imps stat lines and skills for the ones dedicated to specific gods. Bubo are essentially worse versions of Nurglings. So take the same design principles as Nurglings but smaller and a little worse. They needed to represent their god, so they are the toughest, most disgusting and most resilient Titchy player. The Slaanesh Muse is essentially a familiar but has the Hypnotic Gaze ability of Daemonettes, they are also the fastest of the Titchy players to keep their gods themes.
The Fearling are like Tiny blue horrors, but made of flames, that fire flames from their mouth. This has been represented as Bombardier in the secret league a number of teams, such as Flamers of Tzeentch. So for verisimilitude reasons the design is consistent here, I also added Breathe Fire once it became a skill in the game.
Finally I added The Khorne Malice. In their lore they are teeny Chaos Warriors in appearance, and I loved the idea of them wielding a chaotic chainsaw as big as them, it felt very fitting, and also matched up well with the miniature that was released for the Familiars that looked like a mini Chaos Warrior.
After the specialist players were designed I added the Chaos Undivided Imp. This is depicted as a little devil with wings. So I gave them the standard Snotling stat line with the addition of Swoop. Swoop gives the team an extra dimension and makes them more fun, especially when combined with the Chaos Seesaw.
The Chaos Seesaw is something I have wanted to include in a team since Secret Leagues inception but I have never found an appropriate team for them to be in. This unusual creature/thing was first in Blood Bowl 2nd edition rules. It was literally a Seesaw that had a player jump on one side to propel a player into the air. I updated it slightly to make it a sort of living chaotic creature, half Seesaw, half a Spawn of chaos. This combined with tiny Imps running and jumping about conjures up a perfect image of silly mayhem especially with Swoop Imps being propelled in the air and crashing into opposing players. It gave the team a sort of chaotic carnival theme which felt perfect.
Finally I added the Plague Cart, this was a Nurgle wagon from Mordheim originally and I felt adding this as a sort of Nurgle themed Deathroller was a suitable Chaotic version of the Pump Wagon. Though I decided to only have 1 in the team, and make it the same stat line as the Deathroller with Disturbing Presence. This was needed to give the team a central high strength player to hold up opposing players, and stop the remaining titchy players getting wiped out instantly.
