Things to be aware of on Gamefinder and open league formats

The overwhelming majority of games you will play on FUMBBL will be good fun, played against friendly coaches. If you explain that you are playing your first game, they will almost certainly try to help and give you pointers.

There are a couple of things to watch out for however when looking for a game on Gamefinder that aren't against the rules of the game but may not give you the best experience as a new coach.

A very large gap in yours and your opponents team value (TV)

  • If your TV is much higher than your opponents. Blood bowl deals with the difference between TV of teams by giving the underdog free money to 'induce' various bonuses to make the game more even. See the full inducement list and star player list for more details. So it is perfectly within the rules of the game to build a team deliberately to have a very low TV and thus give the coach the chance to induce the most powerful stars. This is typically done by underworld and snotling teams, with the aim of inducing big strength hard hitting stars or bribes to foul your team with.

  • If your opponent's TV is much higher than yours: If someone offers you a match that is significantly above your TV by 100+ then this is probably not a good matchup especially with megastars banned in most of FUMBBL. There will not be much that you can take for inducements that will compensate for the 5-10 skills that you will be giving up it may make your matchup particularly difficult if you are a new team facing lots of guard and mighty blow

If your Opponents team has played many more games than yours but is still a low TV

  • Typically this will be a Min maxed team see here with a couple of very well built players to do a specific role, e.g a killer and a runner. In gamefinder you can always check the amount of games and TV of a team by clicking on the team that made the offer. This will likely be a difficult match for a new or low skilled team, and may not be a very good experiance.

Golden rule 1:

  • You are under no obligation to accept games. If you don't like the look of an offer, either let it time out or just click decline. This is perfectly normal and will not get you in trouble with the admins, nor is it a breach of etiquette.

Golden rule 2:

  • Always check the TV difference between your team and the opposition team, to make sure the gap isn't too big. be very cautious about accepting games with big TV gaps either way.

Golden rule 3:

  • Always check to see how many games your opponents team has played if they have played many more games compared to yours, be very cautions about accepting the matchup

Golden rule 4:

  • These types of game offers are most common in open Competitive games where gamefinder is used to pick an opponent. It is also common in open league, and any leagues where you do not need to be approved to play. If you choose to play there follow the guidance above to help you choose a fair match for your team
