Asgard Ravens, Bifrost Berserkers, No Hawk Jets, and Tjorwald Titans all of which were mentioned in 2nd edition, Asgard Ravens appeared in 1st edition.
Giants have played Blood Bowl since the games inception, though no Giant teams have ever won a tournaments of note. Some individual Giants have created history in their own clumsy fashion, such as Cloudgirth Mountainhip; the Ice Giant kicker, who still holds the record for the longest kick off at 406 paces, which also managed to kill a spectator much to the crowds delight.
Some Norse teams used to play with Giants or hire the occasional Giant Freebooter, and some of these teams achieved minor success winning smaller regional tournaments. After the NAF dissolved Giants, and Giant teams all but vanished from the game.
It was only when the game started gaining some real attention in Albion that the Giants started playing again. The NAF had previously banned them from playing, but now they are back, restricted to only 4 Giants per team and only allowed to field Albion Giants (who are much smaller in size than Giants from other parts of the world). They were again allowed to compete. Teaming up with the pixies of Albion - Giant teams are now popping up in towns throughout the Old World looking for games.
Giant teams were added primarily because there are so many Giant teams mentioned in the background material. Because most of the giants either come from Norsca or Albion I decided the most fitting stunty player to accompany them was the pixies as they are native to the region of Albion and already appear in the Albion roster.
The Giants are essentially bigger clumsier Ogres in the stats and skills, so higher St a bit slower as it would be harder for them to stand up once knocked down, Break Tackle was added as it helps represent how unstoppable they are because of their size.
Season 2 Changes
New team to Season2.
I still have some concerns about this roster, so will not be locking it in until I am sure it is balanced. When designed I wanted a higher tier stunty/big guy team, hoping they would fit in top end of tier 1.5 knocking on tier 1. However due to an initial design error the roster was too good. They got nerfed within a week or two of being released, and their win percentage has dropped significantly since. there was a team they were around 64%. Now they are sitting at 243 games played with a win percentage of 58% which is still too high for comfort. I will leave the team alone for a long while though and see if that percentage continues to fall as more games are played.
