Famous Teams
No Norse Dwarf teams are specifically mentioned by name, but in BB Magazine 5 Dwarf teams got additional rosters based on their region
Background
Norse Dwarfs dwell in the eastern peaks of the great mountain range that carves its way through the Norsca peninsula. Their main stronghold is known as Kraka Drak (Dragon Hold), which contains the greatest gold, silver and steel mines in all of Norsca. Situated right next to the coast it has become a hub of mineral trade. Though the mines delve deep in to the mountains the Norse Dwarfs unlike most Dwarfholds, are largely surface dwellers, building wooden and steel structures in to the mountain sides.
The Norse Dwarfs have taken on many of the attributes of their neighbours the Norse. Forgoing heavy armour for greater speed, and trusting in their own attack as the best form of defence - a mind set that is somewhat at odds with their brethren to the south, though this way of thinking has led to a natural affinity with the Dwarf slayers of Karak Kadrin. Norse Dwarfs even have their old slayer keep, though calling them self Norse Dwarf Slayers they are no different to Slayers of Karak Kadrin in nature or skill set. The truly homicidal blood thirsty Dwarfs of Norsca train to become Beserkers like the greatest Norse warriors to the east.
When the world was still at war - tribes of Norse and Norse Dwarfs would fight side by side, Ulfwerner and Norse Beserker alongside Dwarfs and their Slayers. Now that war has subsided the bond still exists and Ulfwerner still live on the outskirts of the Dwarf strongholds.
Once Blood Bowl teams started forming in the region it was only a natural progress for the former allies to unite once more.
Rationale
Norse Dwarfs were pretty straight forward to create. First of all looking back at their 3rd ed wfb army from which all of Blood bowl background originated, they had Norse Dwarfs, Norse Dwarf Slayers (exactly the same as normal slayers in all but name), Beserkers and Ulfwereners. As such these all make up part of the team, stat and skill selection puts them somewhere between Norse and Dwarf teams, slightly faster, but lower Av. The only addition I made out side of these was the Runner. Both Norse and dwarfs have runners, so again I positioned the player between the two races as Norse Dwarfs are essentially Dwarfs that over years have taken on Norsca culture.
Season 2 (20202 Edition) Changes
Re-roll cost increased both to match Norse re-rolls and because this edition of the rules benefits front loaded teams significantly. So increasing rr cost to 60k nerfs them a little, as does the loss of 2+ GFIs. I considered dropping the the cost of linemen to 55k as the Norse linemen received thick skull free of charge meaning drunkard discounts by 10k. But the team is strong enough already, no buff is needed.
I changed the runner in stats and skills to sit between a dwarf runner and the new norse runner. This makes this roster differ more from the slayer team and adds to the teams theme and character. I also added beer pigs to the roster to match the Norse team.
