Squig Starting Roster & Tactics

Quote

Variation 1

  • 1x Giant Cave Squig
  • 1x Mangler Squig
  • 2x Squig Hoppers
  • 1x Cave Squig
  • 7x Squig Herders
  • 3x Re-rolls
  • Total 1000k

This is a fairly balanced approach to a Squig starting roster. You start with 1 Reserve which is always useful, especially when you have Stunty Linemen, and even more so when Squigs like to smack them about as much as the opposition. 3 Re-rolls should be just about enough to manage your team, while you have no Block in the team you do have some high strength players and you have Dodge both for protection and escaping Tackle Zones. The Mangler Squig really is key to this teams success, do not let them be isolated as they will be removed from play, use the Mangler as part of your screen when you have the ball and as a cage threat when you don't. Use the Mangler wisely! Squig Hoppers are you primary ball carriers and can be useful for emergency breaking of cages. The remaining Squig positionals are good for pitch control, try and use them intelligently to create impossing screens.

Variation 2

  • 1x Giant Cave Squig
  • 2x Squig Hoppers
  • 2x Cave Squig
  • 8x Squig Herders
  • 3x Re-rolls
  • Total 1000k

This variation is probably the most conservative starting build. You drop your Mangler for another Cave Squig and another Herder. This means you start with 2 reserves, and have 2 Squig Hoppers and 2 Cave Squigs. It's a lot easier to manage this way and the extra reserve is helpful. But it lacks pitch control and it is still pretty unreliable due to the negatraits across the team.
