Background
The Cult of Ulric was formed in the north of the Empire. Churches of Ulric are dedicated to his worship and teachings are found throughout Middenland, Ostland and Nordland, their reach extends through Kislev and parts of Norsca. They are devotees to the God Ulric; God of war, winter and wolves.

When Blood Bowl spread through The World the Cult of Ulric were quick to take up the sport, it was a natural fit for their warriors to test their metal. They are a fairly one dimensional team, forgoing the tactical side of the game, with no time for Throwers, Catchers and Runners. The cult is only interested only in training up different types of Blitzers so they suited to take down any opposition they face.

The Cult of Ulrics scriptures are - noble, honest, simple and to the point and it is matched in their approach to the game. They are quickly becoming a fan favourite among the common man that after a days work just wants some bloody entertainment, and the Cult rarely disappoint. Cult of Ulric teas hunt their opposition down like a pack of wolves and hope to leave no one left on the field of battle.

Rationale
Cult of Ulric teams were designed as they are one of the biggest Cults in the Empire. They are the opposite to Myrmidia in their teachings in every way. Myrmidia are all about skills for every job and being highly tactically adept. Cult of Ulric on the other hand are all about war, they are honest and play that way. They do not care for tactical nuance they want to bludgeon their opponent in to submission.

When designing the team it was build essentially in the same format as the other cult teams of the empire with linemen, warriors priests, a positional representing the more skirmished fighters and their special unique elite warriors.

The linemen we decided to call Warriors of Ulric as it helps add to the team's character. They are not interested in forming their teams in the standard style of empire teams, their focus is fighting. That said their stat-line remains the standard for humans of the empire. They do gain S access though on account of them being especially devoted to war.

The skirmish like troops found in Cult of Ulric armies in the age of war was the Wolf Kin. These feral warriors are often compared to the Dwarf Slayers such is their Frenzied approach to battle and willingness to die in battle in the name of their god. As a result their stat line was again that of a basic human, but with a skill set similar to a Dwarf Slayer. Swapping in Juggernaut instead of Block as during the design process it became apparent that thematically this team would feature a lot of Juggernaut.

Their Warrior Priests forgo some armour compared with Sisters or Priests of Sigmar or Myrmidia. They never wear helmets and often wear wolf and bear furs down their back. They are highly skilled warriors so Block felt like a good fit, and it was needed on the team for defensive reasons at low TV, and warriors priests have thematically been of the more defensively adept players in all cult teams. Juggernaut was added again, both adding to the character/thematics of team, and also to illustrate their skill in battle. Their stat line again is that of a standard human, but again with S access

Finally the Teutogen Guard were added. They are huge hulking warriors, wearing the finest heavy plate armour forged in the Churches of Ulric, hence Av9 and Ag2. They are a match for Chaos Warriors in their brute strength, and highly skilled. Pro was added as a way representing their skill in battle and also as a nod to their ability to re-roll wounds in warhammer. Juggernaut again was added as a thematic link throughout the team, signifying their allegiance/prayers to Ulric.

When designing the roster it became apparent quickly that they would forgo standard positionals in favour of Blitzers, more Blitzers and more Blitzers. It fit thematically and makes the roster a lot of fun, while still having some obvious weaknesses.
