Hrm, I always installed 'problematic' programs to a custom folder (in my case 'C:\Other Programs') as that gets round Vista's odd protection rules, at least when logged in with an admin account. Installing to program files caused problems all over the place as did 'personal areas' such as my docs/desktop.
That said, a quick qestion on the java front: Have you tried removing all java versions totally, then reinstalling one (x86, not x64 whatever you do! x64 java is a pain.) |

Yup, I've tried pretty much everything. I don't really understand all this permission business, but I think I have full permission and I don't think that's the problem.
I have tried an old java, a new java and deleted both, then installed the newest java.
I believe it's not installing properly. The bottom line is a box appears with javabowl set up, but it doesn't load properly. I think I'm going to give up with it on this computer, I've spent half a day on it as it is.
Thanks for all the help though, I appreciate it. |

I've solved this. It is Java 7, javabowl and botocs don't work with it. 6 seems ok with sound issues, so 5 and before are ok. However removing Java 7 isn't always straight forward so if it isn't working search the directory.
It doesn't have anything to do with vista or windows 7. |
