Windows Vista. I guess I'll just wait for luck to take a better turn. Thanks for all the suggestions though.

I had this exact same problem for the first time earlier tonight.

Each time I said no to apoth the dialog box would disappear but then the client would semi crash. I say semi crash because I could still type in chat and my oppo could see it. I have a screenshot of the crash state if it would be useful to anyone.

I'm on linux (ubuntu - hardy heron) with all the latest updates - played 50 odd games on here before with no problems at all.

I'd rather not have to say yes to apoth the first injured player but guess I'll have to for the time being.

rambles, maybe the problem is that you are using the openJRE Java instead of SUN Java.
You can check that by typing

sudo update-alternatives --config java

in the terminal. This lets you define which Java you want to run.
I guess that maybe your openJRE was updated recently and was set to be the standard in the process, which is why the problem appeared spontaneously.

It's just a thought, but you might want to try it out.

I had this problem as soon as I switched over to Linux ubuntu a few months ago, was easily solved by changing the java options. I didn't know what to do, but was told to check java, and searching ubuntu forums helped out with the rest.

Good luck!

(Rawlf seems to know what he's saying, and that certainly looks familiar though I can't remember exactly what it was I did...)

Selection Alternative
-----------------------------------------------
1 /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre/bin/java
* 2 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java
3 /usr/bin/gij-4.2
4 /usr/bin/gij-4.1
+ 5 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java

Press enter to keep the default[*], or type selection number:

This is how it looks for me now. It was set to openjdk.

Many thanks Rawlf, Hogshine, I shall try this out and let you know Smile

Reviving dead thread, is there any confirmation that changing the Java version resolves this issue under Linux?

Grod.

Or under Vista?
got only these java :
"JRE 1.6.0_05 C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0"

i can play normal games, but sometimes (once or twice a week - so every 10th game) the client just freez. sometimes i can still chat, sometimes i cant. bt everytime i cant reload. save games get corrupted and or game will not connect. And its mostly not on the first cas but somewhere in the game.

Somebody knows what to do?

edit - spelling
