There should be a menu item to get to these funtions on linux.

Top left? (can't be bothered to fire up the linux box to check)

That menu only provides, in my case, the standard Gnome window functions. Which makes me think...I should try it with KDE 4, which I recently installed to try out.

The JBB menu works in hit and miss for me. most reliale way to access it so far has been to type something in the chat window, press the <tab> key and then <Alt>+<m> keys

That sounds possible - my feeling was that I couldn't access the menu because the focus was stuck in the chat text box. Tabbing out of it may be the answer.

I also have the "binary" sound issue on Ubuntu. Been using the mp3 player as a sound toggle! I can't adjust the volume either.

Did you update anything around the time it ceased working?

Have you tried reinstalling the client (in a separate location) and running that copy?

As there's no obvious problem, it'll have to be fixed by process of elimination.

Hi, I'm a new Linux user. I am running Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. After a bit of trouble, I managed to get JavaBloodBowl up and running.

The only problem I still have is that I can't access the rightclick menu. The alt+ hotkeys only work for me in stand-alone mode. I read the above fix regarding tabbing out of the chat box first, but that doesn't help. Curiously, I have noticed that it is only the alt+ hotkeys that don't work. using 'c' to make the chat box active or using 'n' to display player numbers works just fine. Also, I've figured out how to sync by typing '/sync' in the chat box. However I still can't figure out how to concede, let alone to use any of the other options from the rightclick menu.

So, does anyone have any thoughts as to why the alt+ hotkeys are inoperable while connected to a Fumbbl game? Honestly, I can live without being able to concede, but I'd prefer to achieve full functionality.

My prob: starting jbbl (v8.9b) on linux to spectate a game I get this error upon clicking "Spectate":

I tried Sun 6-jre and 1.5-jre, both gave same error. I'm on (k)ubuntu feisty.

My windows machine is broken, so I installed JBB on my linux machine (Ubuntu, KDE).

Everything works fine except that I'm not seeing any /boo, /cheer, /hurt appear in chat.

Is this common or have I screwed up some option somewhere?

One notable difference is that on my windows machine, I've got Java 1.5.0, but my Linux uses 1.4.2.

Nothing wrong there, presuming you're not the one typing them - you hear them, but don't see them.

Ah, that'll be it. You don't see them as text if sound is on? I never turned the sound off on my Linux as it doesn't have speakers (the sound really annoys me). Thanks. Embarassed

I'm having the exact same problems on debian / gnome. Tried java 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6, without success. Only seems to affect spectating tho.
