The assistant coaches are used for anything appart from one of the rolls in the kick table?

Not true. Only injured & retired players become assistants.
That's why Elves have more assistants than any other team.

For every 25 coaches the income drops by 10000, so you can say the wages for one coach is about 400 gold pieces per match. |

I never use them anyway. My opponent get blitzes and pefext defenses and I get bad kicks. I haven't seen brillian coaching in 50 games or so. |

Of course you can buy them. But apart from tournaments I think that everybody just gets assistant coaches from injured players.
It's kinda stupid to buy for 10k something you will gain for free sooner or later (sooner, most of the times).
My post had to be intended as a joke, as you could see from the "" thing...
