I don't plan on using ANTI-ALIAS so I see no need for translucent pixels... Most companies I do stuff for are using encoded images and not static files so translucent pixels is not an option. |

Since there are multiple camps... here is the new NEW NEW sprite sheet.
So regular icons for the normies... Refreshed little dudes for small field and Big guys for future large pitch. Now everyone can feel happy and not left out.
EDIT: can you tell the difference between a Lineman and a Blitzer? |

yah I can see that now, but just converted them to gifs and did a quick swap in to see what it looks like... tbh, at that size if the rest was transparent, it would look good, just about the right size, then again, those are dwarves and not Ogres... but on a bigger pitch bring it on!

but if the above was to be done, most likely you would need another painted team in a different colour! it is going to be well cool to be able to use my own minis on fumbbl |

Pat, I think the Chaos Warrior icon needs to be with horns.
Dunno why, but my perception of Chaos Warriors includes horns. Preferably horns united in the middle. |

Those dwarves look awesome, nice work. My guess is that the beast potrait with the tentacles on would be more difficult to base an icon on.... |

I still can't imagine this thing on a blood bowl field though.
And the tentacles argument, well not every skill is paysically reflected on the miniatures, to me the left "hand" of the "great unclean one" looks tentaclic enough to pass :p |
You have to go with that. It rocks. That pretty much sums up why the beast is so bad at actually playing Blood Bowl. |

Two things...
In the olde days, before we had JBB ('praise be to SKI!'), there was a game called Bloodbowl Internet. I used to play around with it quite alot. I created a whole set of icons based on actual minatures to use with it. All of them at 40x40 pix, so the big guys look small but they would look better at 54 pix tall. Most of them look pretty good. So it is possible to use real minis.

Secondly, lots of these new previews look great here statically, but what about on a field. I made a quick sample of some of my customized Draconian icons (based off of Pat's originals) and a couple of very quick miniature rescales and put them on a proper sized 'big' field. Here is the result....
So which do we prefer... I kind of like the real minature look...feels more like a real life board. It would probably would take less work, just rescaling and checking details since there are several good sources of pics from the real minatures. Maybe we could get sets of both. Anyone interested in creating the mini-based ones (I'd be willing to lend a hand but don't have enough time to be lead)?
Cheers!
