I got my first win with ogres (against ogres) in 18th game and I was in the situation mentioned in the subject line. I then got an idea how to defend the lead. I didn't do this suggestion to the max but here is what I thought:
BOXOO
OXOXO
XOXOO

OOOOO
B = player with block
After kick just get the ball with B and run to the upper left corner of the field. I calculated it takes 6 turns for opponent to block/blitz B even if all his blocks succeed 100%. And if B has block and he is knocked down, it means he goes to the crowd, with the ball, so ball can land almost anywhere, most likely close to center of the field.
Sneaking out from the corner and throwing a long bomb to opponents endzone could also be attempted. Just throwing from sideline so if fumbble happens, 3/8 chance ball goes to crowd and gets thrown anyway.
B could also be ag 4 player with leap. I used goblin.
At least this tactic should secure a draw, with any team, against any team...
BSO
SSO
OOO
S = stunned player (stand firm player, or player without block)
that would also be a good "tactic". Just dont get your players up. Let them sleep. And opponent cant reach you. Too bad if he doesnt have dirty players... That kind of setup could be selfmade with 3 failed TTMs. Just try long bomb every time... Or you can gfi with high av players. |

If you are putting your team in the corner of the field,
then consider the possibility of the other coach choosing pushback results
instead of knockdowns, intentionally trying to crowdpush your entire team.
Does it still take 6 turns?
I imagine a rookie Norse team with 4 blitzers could Frenzy you
off the field in less. |

why not do the same thing ... but down the other end of the field ... where you can actually score a TD in turn 8 |

I'm with Laviak... if you are bashy, you can slowly go towards opponent end zone (but withouth taking risks, you are winning, you remember), if you are agile, just get a fast TD (2-3 turns) and defend the end zone at all costs in the remaining time... |

Apart from anything else, you're wasting the opportunity to get more SPP, and better FF adjustment chance by scoring more TDs. |
