Well, if it encourages matches with any opponent, dropping a match offer should get you out of the league... (just kidding, of course).
About the 40TS limit, I must admit that I feel guilty for playing some unbalanced matches in unranked... 3 of them I played against a friend of mine, he did not make me win, but he is so a poor coach that a 4-0 is easy as pie (feeling guilty I did not report the match against his woodies anyway)... however sometime I really spent hours in the gamefinder seeking for a fair match: when you have only 2-3 teams remaining to complete the cycle, and a TR > 200 it's not that easy, and I don't have so much time to spare sitting in gamefinder and refusing game offers to my other teams. Luckily yesterday I found my last match against a slighty stronger high elf and so could get my Thalui rune (it's silly, I know, but I do care! ).
I'm glad I didn't win anything because of these "unfair" matches I had...
My suggestion for next season could be to limit it to ranked, or at least enforce the 40 TS limit... anyway, I think I'll surely get a ranked team in the next season. |

why the TS limit only for unranked? Why not also for ranked? |

Not sure why it's not already in the rules, but I once had to address a 40 TS difference when an elf in unranked played a team over 150 TS lower. Obviously it was an easy victory for the elf team, racking up tons of touchdowns and a huge score. Others complained this wasn't fair to their ranked teams, who couldn't play such lopsided games. Unranked coaches fired back how sometimes they couldn't find games within range, especially at higher ranges, so why should they be cheated by having fewer games than ranked teams.
The solution I had for previous seasons was a modified 40 TS rule...obviously ranked is required to be 40 TS above and below. Unranked teams were allowed to play teams stronger than them by any measure, but if the elf team was the stronger, then they had to adhere to the 40 TS rule. So if you're the weaker, play on! If you're the stronger, don't be stronger by more than a ranked team can be, keep it fair.
And guys, everybody in the ELF is free to play or not play whomever they desire. If you're daring and want to play a team-killer, be rewarded! If you decide not to, then Mr Killer, back the *beep* off! Is it a game YOU would accept were your teams reversed? If not, then shut the *beep* up! Don't take the actions of a single coach as criticism of the entire league, and even then don't take a single day as indication of his permanent stance. My own elves have faced true monster teams some days, and other days decided to pass, depending on my mood right then. Just shrug your claws and walk your dirty feet to a new game offer. Try again another day, perhaps they'll say yes. But public flaming and name calling is unacceptable. |

Well, the biggest problem the league is facing at the moment is it's rookie commissioner...
My agenda for this season was kicking the participation and interest level up a notch or two and I've made my rulings from that perspective. I hadn't anticipated any issues cropping up - my apologies for that. Before next season we'll discuss, decide, and document the solutions such that all the current members and new recruits are on the same page.
As for this season, a game or two can still decide the whole thing. Yes, new teams bringing in a bunch of games is disrupting to the continuity - but in order to really compete for the top spot they've had to go out and improve their scores like everyone else. And having unranked teams play games outside of 40TS does seem a bit of an unfair advantage - but the ranked teams can more easily find those EMU bonus games that can make the final difference. So c'mon, lets settle this season "on the pitch!"
And a willingness to play/challenge against any race doesn't mean we will accept every matchup no matter how lopsided. |

Congratulations to ALL ELF coaches. I know my norse have had several games against ELF coaches and more important to me than the challenges in winning, was the sheer enjoyment i got out of the attitude of the ELF coaches.
So my thanks specifically to coaches like SteinerP, Uber, NiN, Lemf, Wietse, and Rizzle who i have had the distinct HONOR to play. You all put the "Balls" in "ElfBall".
Sincerely,
