My ideal system to stop Cherry Picking:
When a coach wants to play he submits a request to the website and select which of his teams are avaible.
Then the site controls if there are other coaches waiting for play with strenght (+/- 40 for example) compatible.
If there are, the site automatically arrange the match.
In this manner the coach can't select his opponent at all.
Result: NO MORE CHERRY-PICKING!
What do you think?
***Variant***
The site arrange the match and then it will communicate you your opponent. Now you have the choice to declinate the offer but you lose some points in your coach value.
No bonus for your opponent |

Why do you think it will never work? |

Why don't you read some of the 100+ threads that have adressed this topic already, and then come back with some new input.....
EDIT: Lovely avatar you got there Synn =) |

I totally agree... Lets all make Chaos Killerteams and kill all the elfs!!
It totally takes away the idea of ranked, Open Division. |

the idea itself isnt all bad.... will also make very random and fun encounters.... hehehehe... but probably there are many that will oppose such a thing. But, if you allow the strenght difference to be as high as 40 without being able to chose yourself who to play -it can easily turn into "cherry-picking" after all. Imagine a skaven, elf or any other av7 team being forced to play a 40 stronger dwarf, orc or chaos that will end up in a blood bath. And if its another elf team with 40 more in rating, it they will most likely be outplayed in every single part of their own "strenghts". Personally, i can like your idea, but the strenght should be reduced to max 10 in difference. |

Only way to avoid cherry-picking is to play tourney's. And by experience I can recommend not to play Woodies. |

The 40 value is for example. It can be lowered.
Cherry picking IS a problem because everybody cherry picks |

There is no cherrypicking... Everyone is free to take and make any challenges... If you dont like it, dont play... Easy as that. |

It is possible to add a minor variation:
The site arrange the match and then it will communicate you your opponent. Now you have the choice to declinate the offer but you lose some points in your coach value. |

not to mention all the terrible match ups that could then be exploited
flings vs vamps
dorfs or cd vs stunties or zons
ogres vs norse (or really anything)
plus there is no way to accurately hire wiz or stars for the match, which is most important for halflings who can live or die based on the number of rrs the opponent has |
