I am hoping to run a Boxing Day Bloodbowl Test. The format will be New Teams, Round Robin and progression.
I am throwing open a poll to suggest what format people woul like. The plan is to have the tourney play time roughly match the cricket time. 10pm - 6pm, GMT+11.
Proposal One: Vanilla.
Proposal Two: Tail Ender Challenge - vamp, ogre, gobbo & fling only.
Proposal Three: 4x4.
Proposal Four: Coach-Race Inversion. Coaches line up, and get a team assigned to them so race rank and player rank relate in an inverse proportion.
(Top Coaches get lower teams, poorer coaches get good teams) |

hmmm...
For a start, 4x4 sucks.
I would vote for proposal 2, but having the Ogres in there is a little unfair I think. If it was Vamps, Goblin and Fling only that would be different. |

The joy of 4x4 in this format is the ability to declare an hour max turnaround and get a whole 8 man round robin done in one day. |

Sounds like fun bart. Dont think I'd be in for 4x4 though.
You could always enforce quick games - get people to set the timer in their options.nfo to something like 2min turns and require people make their moves before the whistle. Doesn't have to be rules-meistered. Im sure most swl'ers would be happy to comply.
Anyway, I'm all for coach-race inversion. But I'd happily play 1,2 or 4. |

I voted Coach-race inversion...namely because I know I got no rank |

4x4 = no
vanilla is ok
tail ender ok and i dont mind ogres in there but only cos i like to play them.... id understand if they were excluded. What if we randomly allocated from SWL Dynamite classification? |

Its a pity we couldn't work out which teams coaches use the most and then allocate a non-standard team for them. |

what about a simple random allocation of races? Put all the races in a hat, all the coaches in another and away we go.
No duplication of races - must play with what is given. |

I reckon you could divide the races into "basic", "average", and "challenging", and then do something in-between the "put all races in a hat" method, and the "coach inversion" method. I think that it's easy enough to pick out which coaches need to be allocated a challenging team
I'd like to propose an alternative, Vampires only, no rerolls. You'd be surprised just how much quicker the games are when you don't have any re-rolls on the team (especially when you have 4+ vampires ). |

You can play BB and watch the cricket! I will be!
Looks like Coach race inversion is winning, with tail ender challenge still strong enough to get up. Still plenty of time to go. I plan to make the decision around the 15th and PM everyone who express' interest. I'll be talking it up on SWL as well. |
