I have a vision
I hereby propose an additional subforum, which shall contain all the stuff that cannot be posted anywhere else on this forum.
In that part of the forum, most of the rules of fumbbl will still apply and it will be thoroughly moderated. There still will be no pornography or racism.
The only thing that changes is that abusive language towards other coaches is allowed.
Of course it would prompt you to confirm your adult age every time you enter that part of the fumbbl boards.
Please vote whether this sounds good or bad in your ears. Remember that the actual outcome of this poll does not have any validity towards the realization of all this.
That way we'd have a place to let off steam towards other coaches without risking to be banned or punished for your words.
There is also a potential of creating hilarious threads, as everyone who was in a controlled flamewar before might know.

How's about biting the bullet and putting up your own message board. Dirt easy to install and configure phpBB2 (which this forum is based upon and what TBB uses) if you have a server with MySQL and PHP. It's all free if you happen to have a broadband connection and an old machine around (Apache + Linux = good). You might even be able to do it with some free hosting service (Geocities or Freewebs or whatever). Alternately, good shared hosts can be nice and cheap if you don't want the bother.
Then when you want to flame someone, just post a link on the thread and do it off-site. That keeps Christer and Co. out of trouble and you can allow/post whatever you decide is appropriate, since you are your own admin.
Many times have I considered doing such a thing... sort of an Open Letter to those involved... just didn't care quite enough to be bothered. |

I can do that, since there are such forums everywhere I just doubt the admins here would approve of this |

Not a good idea. If you're not happy about how someone plays, just don't play them anymore. Flame wars are easy to start, but they basically don't get you anywhere. Well there was this one fun flame thread with Neil, that was fun, but then some ppl took it a bit too personally...
Besides, with the growing number of users, who would want to/have time to moderate it even a little?
In the famous words of Rodney King: "Why can't we all just get along together?" |

I guess you're right, hehe
Maybe I'm just too upset at one particular member here. Guess I'll stick to innuendo and quiet disdain again |

That was fun wasn't it!
His match reports made me LMAO.
As such I only ever took that thread as humour. I didn't think for one second that people actually got upset by it.
It was a shame that some people took Neil's (Neal's?) comments to heart, but then people are only human. (mostly!)
Can't see that having a forum dedicated to verbally abusing others would be good tough. Spreading the bad feeling amongst coaches can never be a good thing.
And in the words of the great man himself:

Well he is right....
I mean... what twisted mind makes an army of dinosaurs, puts it on a pitch, and then lets fans walk away on a resurrection
But seriously, i fail to see the point here... flaming without reason, or any goal is just... well like.... wrong... |

I voted I don't care as there are many parts of the forum I never visit and that would simply become one of them... I see no need to start flaming people because of a game... And as Christer already pointed out, it will never happen so why even spend time thinking about it... Guess I'm just to lazy |
