I've got a problem with it and I have no clue what's causing it,but every time a casualty happens (anything that removes the player from the field) the program freezes up and while the other player can still see things happening and finish his turn, nothing at all shows up on mine.
Any idea on what's going on there?
to pre-empt any common answers, I do have the latest version of Java and the program's not being blocked by any firewalls. |

When there is a casualty, it is one of the few times in BB when you main processor, video card (painting blood) and sound card are all in use at exactly the same time.
I would probably begin by making sure the drivers are all up to date. |

If you don't use Sun's Java, the client freeze after you select not to use the apoth.
If you use Sun's Java, you would have no problems.
The sad thing is: We don't have the choice of Java. |

some ppl say, turning off the sound might prevent such things from happening. or you should stop playing javabowl on that 486 pc. |

No, that's a rhetorical question. |

Ok, so...
1. It's not a 486
2. This happens with or without an apothecary.
3. All drivers are up to date.
4. The only effect synchronizing has is that all icons except the ball are removed from the display.
It's still happening.
And I still have no clue what's causing it. |

Try turning off the sound and seeing if it still happens, as suggested above |

alright, update:
turning off the sound doesn't help.
But at least now if I save the guy with an apothecary the game goes on.
Any ideas? |

I would be tempted to re-instal the video card driver, but it could be any number of components in your machine that is the problem. |

well the weird thing is, it was working fine at first, but started freezing up as soon as I'd made a Stunty team and tried to play it.
Maybe that's got something to do with it? |

Same thing happened to me once. Was getting back to fumbbl after a few months break and in my first game the game froze every time my opponent caused a casualty (could've also frozen when i caused cas but i didn't get any ). Well, i conceded the game and resumed my break and when i returned like a month later my client was working... I have no idea why .
Anyway, this post kinda helps you in no way unless you wanna luck out like me. If i remember correctly, however, disabling the blood effects might work (if that's even possible). I think somebody did that and their problem was solved. |

I have seen this problem before, but only when running Linux. Are you running Linux? |
