That just means that it'd be 1+Str to find out your strength, right? So a Troll Slayer or a Norse Runner can always use Dauntless vs a 4 str player...
Or is a 1 an auto-fail? |

"If the total is equal to or lower than the opponent's Strength"
I know it can be equal, but normally ones are an auto-failure so I'm curious. |

If you are ST3 against ST4 and roll a 1, your total is 4. Because that is "equal to or lower than" their ST, you must block using your normal ST. I guess technically if you are blocking someone with equal ST then a 1 wouldn't fail, but it would also not do anything. |

Equal to or lower and it fails, meaning you have to beat your opponents strength with your own strength+the dice roll, so if your strength is one lower, adding +1 from the dice would only make it equal to and dauntless will fail.. |
