Standings have been updated. Week 16 is almost complete and the final week will begin shortly.
Caught the second half of Montreal versus Hamilton, and good grief, it was a wild event. The elves (including the renegade on the Pact) were failing all those easy elf things, which was hilarious to see. Instead, the marauders were making some into TZ dodges with no RRs. The stand off on the sidelines was epic.
Unfortunately, Mike Pringle dodged death for the third time this season without a scratch. It is widely believed that Montreal has spent a small fortune to have the best apothecary in the business on call just fro Pringle, but league officials have been tipped off by an anonymous source that Pringle may in fact not be who he claims to be. The scuttlebutt leaking out of the league's headquarters suggests Pringle is not an elf, but an immortal being play the game for a laugh. The league intends to look into the matter seriously, and has received backing from many teams, including Ottawa, who suggested testing Pringle through drowning to prove his mortality.
More news as the story unfolds. |

The league is investigating and will make a ruling. Either way, LOO gets my POW vote for week 16 for crippling the Sizzler. |

Quebec City 3 - Saskatchewan 0
The Carnies showed the league's officials how mad they were about Toronto being given a free point so they notch the Eastern division title in this match.
The Carnies put a precise pressure on the Gopher's ball carrier to take the ball off their hands on T7 in 1st half. Taking a 1-0 lead before receiving after half-time.
Commissioner WhatBall was then seen eating some hot-dogs and driking some Orca-Cola pop drinks with coach Mubo from Toronto, during the break. Rumours say Orconaught's star goblin, Snaggi Kickboots, was seen signing autographs to the league's commish.
During 2nd half, Saskatchewan was messed up with some surprising blocks from Quebec. A small scrumble happened at mid-field before Rodnei Gédéon, the new Carnies' blitzer, caught a pass to score the 2nd TD.
A third TD was notched after the Gophers went exhausted playing under-numbered the whole 2nd half.
Quebec also opened an investigation from their Stabbucks' Coffee partnership to try reversing the league's decision concerning Toronto's bribes.
Captain Idaak once again took the lead into the team's SPP column, for the fourth time in his career. |

Rottawa took a 2-0 beating versus Toronto last night. Only the two golems managed to stay on the field the whole game. We lost 3 players in the first turn from injury and a heavily-biased ref, who we suspect was the BC fan-boi referee returned in disguise. For safe measure, he was fed to the team after the game.
Thankfully no permanent injuries, and Rottawa is looking forward to playing the Hoser Thralls in the first round of the playoffs for their bye-week.
The team was not downtrodden after the loss, just extremely angry and looking for a fight in the playoffs. |

The Dumpsville Inuit limp into the playoffs after a 2-1 beatdown at the hands of Hamilton.
Reporters tried to find the head coach for comment after the match, but he was nowhwere to be found. Rumor has it he's already left for his off-season vacation after promoting the waterboy to first assistant coach. |

Halifax Hrungnirs triumph over the Winnipeg Claw Bombers 2-1 in overtime.
https://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=3284277
An interesting match-up.
The Bombers received and to their fans dismay the offense stalled at midfield. A determined leaping dodging blitzing effort from the Hrungnirs popped the ball loose and was prepared to scamper for the defensive TD. In desperation Winnipeg drew on their own inner elves, they blitzed, recovered the ball in tacklezones, dodged away and passed the ball to big man Steve Morely who rumbled in for the TD.
Halifax attempted to even up before the whistle but unlikely failures at key moments denied them the half time tie.
Receiving in the second half, Halifax quickly tied the game but left plenty of time on the clock for the Bombers to score the go ahead goal. Strong defense on the sideline slowed the Bombers to a crawl and just out of scoring range the leaping blitzing Hrungnirs popped the ball loose but where unable to capitalize before the final whistle.
Halifax won the toss in Overtime and elected to receive. The bombers pressured the ball carrier deep in the Halifax zone but Duane made no mistakes and the chain got the ball deep. The Bombers made a valiant goal line stand but were unable to stop the elf-ball express.
The Bombers loss puts them in the Maple Syrop Ladle game against their CFFL Eastern Division rookie rivals the Waterloo Bulls. |

The final game of the season so one last pick for the road...
Sunday night at 7:30 CDT (unless the Bulls get hijacked by partisan Bomber fans at the Canuckistan border.)
CFFL Wooden Maple Syrup Ladle Trophy Game:
Winnipeg Claw Bombers vs Waterloo Bulls pre-game analysis
The CFFLS's Worst of the Worst in a Final Showdown
Hitting: Winnipeg has the strength advantage, Waterloo has more guard. Both teams have their share of blockers. Waterloo has the only claw player in the match, both sides are even on mighty blow. This is gonna be a basher's ball, whichever coach brings their 'A' game and the whims of Nuffle will decide the battle in the trenches.
Advantage: Too Close to Call
Handling: The Bulls are vulnerable with only one hobgoblin in the game, but the centaurs have pulled off unlikely plays at opportune moments so it may not be a factor. Every beast and 3/4 of the warriors on the Bomber roster are potential handlers, big man Steve Morley scored the only TD in their last game underscoring Winnipeg's flexibility. Both teams lack solid ball skills so expect wild success and wilder failure.
Advantage: Winnipeg by the slightest of margins
Speed: The Bulls bring two sprinting centaurs and a lone hobgoblin to the footraces. Winnipeg is faster across the board, but has only one player to match the range of the Bulls. Both teams will attempt to limit the run but a successful breakout might be a game winner.
Advantage: Waterloo
Depth: Winnipeg's last minute acquisitions brings a 12 creature roster to the party. The Bulls are down to 11 with their best ball carrier missing the game with an injury. High armor and thick skulls will keep the big hats on the field, but the loss of their lone hobgoblin could put the Bulls at a disadvantage in moving the rock.
Advantage: Too Close to Call
X-Factor: There are eerie similarities between these rival rookie teams. After 18 games they have identical an identical W/L percentage (36%) identical records (4/5/9) and identical TD for and against (15-25). Their head to head record is also an even split (1/1/1), they drew their first match, the Bulls blanked the Bombers 2-0 in their second and Winnipeg returning the favor 1-0 in their last game of the regular season. This is going to be a brutal grudge match to determine which is the better team.
Advantage: The loser will attempt to pry the ladle from Gainer. And NOBODY wants to do that.. |

Wooden Maple Syrup Ladle Final.
Winnipeg Claw Bombers win 2-1 over the Waterloo Bulls in Sudden Death Overtime.
Bulls won the toss and elected to kick. Bombers advanced to mid field but were getting pinned on the sidelines by a strong Waterloo defense. The bulls dropped Buck in his tracks but a fortunate bounce on a later hit put the rock into Milt's hands. The line cleared a path to the open field and Milt shot the gap, stepping into the endzone at the end of the half.
Second half was all Bulls. Madcow Magnusson took out Steve Morely and Doug Brown as the Bomber defense unraveled. By the time Plundar Thunderstrike tied the game at 1-1 four bombers were off the pitch either BH or KO. And the outlook for the Bombers in OT was dire.
The Bombers 12 man roster and favorable KO dice proved decisive as they won the coin toss and were only down a man. With no rerolls, T2 was the game ender. Brendan Dunn killed rookie Simon Darkhammer and the Bombers secured a strong pocket on the sideline within striking distance of the endzone. Nick Fitzgibbons gathered the ball from a stunned Buck Pierce and completed a pass to Greg Battle jetting into the pocket.
The Bulls pressed but could only get a lone hobgoblin marking the ball carrier. Brendan Dunn blitzed Battle free and Greg sprinted for the endzone and the winning overtime TD.
A good match, well played by Nightbird. Key dice at key moments were the difference. If the OT coin toss had gone the other way it would be the Bombers attempting to wrestle the Ladle from Gainer.
