Scary to say, but I think Cyanide had it right when they set up for arranged matches to not count for ranking purposes. Scheduler is the real test. |
The only true competitive place on fumbbl is leagues like WIL. Box is just as pickable as Ranked, and certainly not more competitive. |

Yeah, but annoys me when I see clawpomb rosters that are getting games. Those guys who are accepting need to defer authority to me, so I can refuse for them. |
There will always be people playing the kind of game that they want to play and ruining it all for everyone else.
Tell them that if they want to play vs CPOMBers you'll transfer their team to the Box. |

Well, and Majors. They may have teams pimped out to the 9's in them, but they are competitive. |

Guy's please stop using the word 'competitive' before Shadow gets here! |

There is no complaints because the picked newbies don't come on the forums.
All in all ranked seems good but you are much more likely to have a challenging game when logging in at some random time in blackbox. (Unless you arrive late mountain time like I have recently and not enough people are around.) |

Now I understand why you allways ignore my Buccaneers on GF Hitonagashi....Iam not a Legend or a newb....Thus I feel the real "issue" that you bring up is of a personeal nature and has nothing to do with the Game Finder per se. |

If only I could get in an Exp or Vet SMACK! Or even find opponents for a non-min-maxed Norse team! Alas, I shall continue to play Wood Elves in Ranked, at least then the Orcs and Dwarves that seem the only available opponents at low levels will play me and maybe I finally manage to build up a team for the [R] Majors. Burn? I think you Rankers are more likely to fall asleep while walking! Ranked? This is me yawning.
On a more serious note, the new gamefinder was exactly what [R] needed. It's a nice balance now between the two divisions and I like them both. |

No threads on how certain skill combos have tarnished and threaten to kill off Ranked? We dont even drag out the dead, skeleton remains of Cherry Picking to rage over every few weeks. "we" have fallen so low that we cant even get a decent CPOMB thread in Ranked.
Have we all just thrown up are arms in disgust, kick the dirt and just move on? Where is the passion? the outrage? the "fire"?
Or is it that deep down every one just knows Rank play is a better overall "experience" for open play Blood Bowl?

Maybe it's like being a patron at a porno theater (back when that was a viable business). Nobody wants to admit they are there, let alone look around, look another patron in the eye, and discuss why they are there. Each just goes about cherry picking and leaves the others to the same=)
In all seriousness, Box players are probably less casual than R players. Being more uptight about the gaming experience because they are more emotionally invested in it, they complain more if it isn't "just right." |

Ok guys lets stop using that competitive word around here....That debate was hashed to death on Page 5 of the Box fourm and the ashes of its step brother can be found on around page 3 of the general fourm. |

I had both good and bad experiences...generally, accepting what I considered reasonable games that my opponent would play, I'd get:
newb newb newb, legend, newb, newb, newb, legend.
On the flip side, in the box, I tend to get:
vet, vet, vet, newb, vet, vet, vet, vet, vet, newb, vet,vet
In short, I find R gives you both the best games and the worst. B is easier for building a team though (assuming you don't have much time to cherry pick each evening). |
What about stunty? You got games there, even if you did use skryre slaves! |

+1, I'm trying ranked at the moment and find it hard to get good games too. I have had a few vs coaches who have been round the site for a long time, but really its almost only newbs that ever seem to offer me games or accept the challenges I offer.
It makes me feel like a picker even though I'm not, I just want a game quickly so offer all fair match ups then only the newbs accept and it makes me feel dirty. But what are you to do? |

Stunty is different Mouse! It's great, and people are willing to accept any kind of game.
Just seemed to me whenever I got a 7-8 game winning streak, the number of people deciding to accept games against me dropped through the floor.
Painstate: Honestly can't say I remember deliberately turning down a Buccs game. Maybe when I was looking for ELF races? I'm halfway through a cycle atm, so I've got most categories. |

I tend to get on the gamefinder with whatever teams I want to play with, then just green tick everything, and only refuse a match if their TV is 300+ higher, and sometimes not even then. I can't comment on the amount of rookies/vets/legends I play 'cos I don't really pay CR that much attention. I do pay attention to what a coach is like in chat (nevermind the team build; couldn't care less) and I've found on the whole that ranked is no more freindly or unfreindly than box, they are about the same.
Not sure what point I'm trying to make here or what relevance to the thread, just thinking out loud. |

I get this too...
Though NA night times have such a tiny amount of coaches around it's not really the best time to look for games anyway.
Also, I am a picker I'm sure of it, I just don't take R very seriously anyway :p Used it early on to try a few different races, and to try and get some teams to certain TVs just to see what they look like/play like.
I take my L teams seriously. Well, some of them anyway
And the poll is missing the 'Loud Wanker' option. |

One of the poll options should be;
All R players are pickers and all B players are narcissists
Well, that's what seems to come out of most of these threads |
