This is a custom league designed (for pixel huggers like myself xD) the Professional League demotes heavy violations to fellow sportsman, it promotes sportsmanship above all else!, team building, and Professional Bowl player skills and tactics.
In this league only one race competes but don't let that worry you.. The race roster we use isn't a standard one, it is heavily modified to fit the league's ideals and purposes.
If your a coach looking for a regular competition - this probably isn't it. But if you don't mind playing on a level field where neither coach nor team has a racial or special ability advantage over the other(initially).. if you like your players alive why not play here where they will NOT be exposed to Claws or other unsavory items of destruction!!! If you want to focus more on playing ball but dont want to hop around like an elf all day.. then this might be the league for you!
Of all the league ideas I have personally had.. this is the one I like the best.
Are you fed up of spending all your coaching time training and retraining rookies!!? I AM xD! ..Surely you would prefer to hire at least some professional players..? Perhaps you'd like a complete team of professional players!!!!!
Blood Bowl is a diverse game, with many races, stars, abilities and positional to choose from! Not a fair game by any stretch of the imagination! It is for this reason I have created this league, basically to see what the game is like with these sort of rules and this roster.
Rules:
Coaches/Teams are encouraged to use colors to identify themselves, but it isn't required to play. Red & Blue icons are available.
No Foul Play, No Block, No Mighty Blow, No Dirty Player.
No Fouling - this is strictly forbidden!
No Mutants or Mutations.
Free gold for hiring Wandering apothecaries, courtesy of the Professional Kitty! AND this is the only inducement allowed besides Mercenary players. Stars Players are not available at this time.
Stand Firm
Failing to dodge ends the player's turn instead of falling over. Does not cause a turnover.
Skill and Team progression is standard.
the Professional Roster:
Because you aren't hiring idiots who cannot play, don't be immediately put off by the players skill sets, take a moment to think.. a professional player would have a professional skill set.
The following are the VERY BASIC SKILLS required by ALL Pro Bowl players before even being considered for hire!
Please Note: Players will gain new skills during their careers as usual too!
Catch, Pass, Wrestle.
Without these three core skills a Player might as-well look for work elsewhere... Catching, Passing and Wrestling are common knowledge in these circuits!
the Positionals:
Light Blockers; 0-16, 6,3,3,8, Catch, Pass, Wrestle: G-ASP
*This is your basic lineman type, good for filling out the gaps.
Heavy Blockers; 0-4, 5,3,3,8, Catch, Pass, Wrestle, Thick Skull: S-AGP
*These are never happier than when they are on the LoS.
Tacklers; 0-3, 7,3,3,8, Catch, Pass, Wrestle, Tackle: G-ASP
*Offensive and Defensive Specialists.
Runners; 0-3, 7,3,3,8, Catch, Dodge, Pass, Sure Feet, Wrestle: , GA-SP:
*Goal Winners
Passers; 0-2, 6,3,3,8, Catch, Dump-Off, Pass, Wrestle: GP-AS:
*Team Leaders and Expert Ball Handlers
Kickers; 0-2, 6,3,3,8, Catch, Kick, Pass, Wrestle: G-AS:
*Support Players |

Well in a manner of speaking nobody is OP, but on the other hand if 6,3,3,8 is the standard then compared to that yes they are all OP. Star Players are still available to hire so not all players necessarily follow the same statline
Also with injury's and stat rolls.. could get quiet interesting, I thought(?)
And actually with the skill access available to these guys... yea they OP xD
The idea did hit me to make the main guys 0-6/0-8 available to hire something like that.. and then have regular human linemen for grunt work maybe..
What do you think? Do you think it would be better to have less of these guys?
EDIT: Correct! Because its a completely different idea now |

I think it would be better to have the usual positionals. linos, blitzers, throwers, catchers.
As it stands it looks like an all lino league but with very good linos. I don't know how long all lino leagues tend to last.
With all that AV9 it could be a race to get the most claw.
Also, could you award skill picks before the first game? That would help differentiate players. Do players have to play 1 game before they can get their picks?
Doubles should be worth something. |

If it is kept to those 4 positional types I guess that would be ok, and mitigate the need for early skill choices on players.
Claw is a valid skill choice, up to the individual coachs to decide what tactics to use. However with easy M access you are right in saying Claw would be high on the list of the majority of teams.
I don't want to change the skill progression or award early skills.
Good point about doubles. |

Id be happy to throw a Big Guy in a Stunt(y) man AND a Runner type positional in to add that variety factor.
I guess the catchers could have Dodge, most players would end up taking it as an early choice anyway. I got no problem with that, might have to increase their price a little more tho.(?)
I hear ya. |

The only real change i can see that there is almost no chance for a 3d block. |

So I just tried a game with my partner and we think it is great. We might need to change some prices and make other small adjustments over time but pretty much it plays as I imagined it would do! I failed to consider surfing when I wrote the rules, I surfed one of her players VERY unprofessionally, we decided surfing is something that is not promoted in the league but it isn't punishable either.
Id like to try this with some more coaches if there are anyone available to play?
While we wait for coaches to get involved we're playing friendly games with throw away teams, for testing purposes.
Still looking for interested coaches. |
