600k inducements means a chef, an apo, a bribe and a star. I can cope with that |

Blimey not sure what to make of that fidius, although I sort of agree with your last point. In a way I was lucky not to play Malmir, Bibi and fxiii (three top coaches who I respect highly), but that was I think due to activation times. Due to unusual working hours I very rarely get to play the European early-mid evening, which is I think when those guys would play most. I had to play a lot of my games early afternoon or late evening/midnight server time - but if you think I got an easy ride from that you would be wrong. Whenever you activate there will be good coaches online here. In my timeslots I drew a different subset of coaches I consider to also be in the very top bracket - for example from my Friends list Chivite (4 games), MattDakka (2 games), FabienL (3 games), Elyoukey (2 games), Endzone (1 game). Although they don't need me to big them up - their records speak for themselves.
I don't really understand your post - you can't really cherrypick opponents in Blackbox, that's precisely what makes it the best and fairest division on FUMBBL in many peoples opinion. And the BBT is especially fair in that everyone starts with new teams of equal weighting, and it is decided over numerous games. However speaking as a scientist, it's also important not to cherry-pick data My party is in full-swing - have a pint of Hobgoblin! |

Maybe I shouldn't be the one replying to this particular comment, being my ogres you're referring to.
In that game my big'uns were absolutely ace. And undeveloped renegades are very hit or miss. Once they skill up, they quickly outpace ogres in terms of reliability. If it's any consolation, I faced 3 elf teams after you and got pummelled badly by all of them.
Take a look at some of the most active teams in the box, like smallman's smallkosp or lautrehamon's Bannaton, as an example of the options you have with Renegades. Do not give up on them yet.
In other news, LOOK AT WHO'S AHEAD. AGAIN.
2/365 of a champion!
After this I'll give Chivite a few days of respite in which he can enjoy the top spot. |

You must be fun at parties. |
Blood bowl is a competitive game and I think adding harder matches in the box makes the bbt better rather than worse as more players will have fun playing competitive matches and the bbt as a whole will be more legitimate than if everyone played cupcakes.
Also fumbbl is designed so that as many people can play blood bowl how they want to play it as possible and the way I want to play it is to lower the median bbt score as low as possible |
Yeah exactly so you go around at parties spilling everyones drinks so the overall alcohol level is lower because it just must be more fun at parties not being drunk, right? |
In what way is giving people a competitive blood bowl game and playing spoiler similar to spilling everyone's drinks at parties? Would you prefer everyone plays a cupcake schedule? And I never said I was going to purposely try to injure or retire teams, just that I want to hand out losses. |

It's the tone of your post, I guess.
"Handing out losses" is just playing the game and is, in essence, what we all are trying to do.
So putting extra focus on it, disregarding the overall trophy goal... that does not make you extra competitive or an extra hurdle in the way of those competing in the BBT. It just makes you a sour person at the party. |

Wait, wait... I care. It would still increase the number of box activations by half a game every once in a while beyond the increased number of activations from the BBT itself.
Oh, and Dragon Ogres. Dragon Ogres would be the one roster which would be the best at messing up everyone's chance of winning. But until we have a Dragon Ogre roster available in the competitive leagues, feel free to play regular Ogres. They're fun too. |

'Only one squad per coach and season is allowed.'
I'm a bit surprised by this since Christer said he liked the idea of putting in 2nd squad later. I'd be keen to know the % chance of this changing. I appreciate it might be too hard to reprogram now that the season started. But I imagine this info will greatly impact at what pace coaches try and get their games done. |

Except that's not what it says both on the Black Box Trophy page and in the news item? |

From the trophy page:
Blackbox Trophy
Season 3
The blackbox trophy is a year long blackbox meta event. Coaches select a squad of 4 unique teams with a budget of 7 points with team costs as follows:
0 points: Goblin, Halfling, Ogre.
1 point: Vampire, Slann, Underworld Denizens.
2 points: Dark Elf, Elven Union, High Elf, Human, Khemri Tomb Kings, Norse, Chaos Renegades.
3 points: Other races. Max 2 of these teams are allowed in a squad.
The score is calculated based on the first 25 games with each team in the squad.
Scoring works as follows:
A win gives 1 point, a tie gives 0.5 points and a loss gives 0 points.
An additional 2.5 points are awarded per point of unused team budget.
Having a team with the highest points for that race awards 1.5 additional points.
A bonus of 0.5 points is given for every 5 games played per team.
Once a squad has completed all their 100 games, a new squad can be created with the same rules as above, with the addition of no previously used race in the season can be used again.
So not sure what you're looking at. |
