In our own minds we are all infalable and only luck could get us.

I'm proud to say that coaches accuse me of being unlucky more often than I accuse other coaches of being lucky. |

In any given match, there are only a limited number of possibilities. Either...
a) You are the better coach and win primarily through your strategies and some luck (because there is always -some- involved).
b) Your coaching skill is equal to that of your opponent and the person with the better luck will win the match.
c) You are the inferior coach, but luck happens to be on your side and you win the match despite all expectations to the contrary.
In cases where people complain about luck, it would appear that they are assuming you fall under option C listed above. In short, by complaining about your luck, they are indirectly saying you suck as a coach and they never should've lost to you. Hooray!
P.S. Paulhicks: Happy to oblige! |

I conform to all of the features that you dislike, therefore you hate me. Hell, I hate me! Everyone should hate me!

I hate paulhicks for instigating me to post here. I'm so weak-minded that I fall for his Jedi mind tricks every time. Curse you, paulhicks! *shakes a fist at the sky* |

Wizard has it right
Like it or not, the game has an element of luck. And if it's a choice between blaming your own stupidity for a loss or blaming the dice, you blame the dice.
It works the other way, too - if you win, it's because of your awesome coaching, and the dice would have made a lesser man fail, but your internal qualities came to the rescue.
It's called the "external bias", and the only people who don't exhibit it at high levels are depressives
So at least when someone blames the dice constantly, you can be comforted that they are happy in general, most of the time. As for the implication that their opponent depends on dice and is basically incapable of affecting the game through their own coaching - just try not to take it too hard; everyone thinks of themselves as special, if they didn't, they'd probably hate you with fiery passion |

Well I hate people to try to hurt my players in any way and don't pass the ball to me when they manage to pick it up and I really hate people scoring against me. Basically these people are ruining my fun. You know who you are so stop it now!........ |

i have good reason. hes pure evil. in our last game he dropped 200176 times and then fixed the client to allow himself to through 11 fouls on t16 killing my whole team. then he stole my pets and offered them up to satan as a ritual sacrifice and sent me pornographic photos of himself with my mom, sister and girlfriend all at once.....
.... i'll play him 1 more time and if it happens again hes definatly going on my dnp list |
