I had a quick browse around the forums and an existing topic didnt jump out at me... if it already exists then could a mod close this and put a link to the existing one.
What bits and pieces should I get to make this software secure? I want to know what add ons you'd reccomend and what they do. I am currently running McAfee and that isnt about to change so I only want suggestions for stuff which dosent do what McAfee already does and wont try to interfere with McAfee.
Also any extra info on the IE breach like how serious it is and when it will be fixed would be most welcome. |

The NoScript plugin deactivates Javascript for any website you haven't visited before (you can select which sites to put on the safelist). Without Javascript, I don't think there's much that can be done via the browser. |

NoScript, AdBlockPlus for FireFox, AdAway and Spybot Search and Destroy for the computer in general. That should do it. |

Apart from NoScript I'd recommend AdBlock Plus and Flashblock. They might not be security hazards in the same way as scripts, but these two plugins filter out a lot of trash from pages and make surfing much (MUCH!) quicker. I also like Nuke Anything Enhanced for the same reasons, but it takes a bit to get used to this one. |

...unless you have an oldish computer. AVG 8.0 eats CPU-power and memory. 7.5 was great, but is no longer supported. I've changed to Avira, which is slightly leaner. |
