Non-stunty I would probably never take tackle for a big guy.
In general can think of 3(ish) types of big guys:
1) Roadblock - typical example is the troll - big meat shield
- In general, I would go Block then either Dodge or Pro in some order. You are probably taking Guard and Standfirm as normal skills for meatshields.
2) Killer - your AV 8 wild animals - mino or rat ogres
- In general these guys blitz a lot and pick up JUG, so can skip Block, but since they have frenzy there is little reason for tackle - just go with Pro then JU on doubles for them. Generally taking JUG, PO, BT for these killers (taking claw on normal or double if available)
3) Positional - your Krox or Beast of Nurgle
- In general go for the Block / Dodge then Pro for these guys. Probably taking BT and SF earlier in development here. While most people take block first - I have also seen some coaches going with Dodge first skill because of Dodge + BT synergy. |

I've done Block/Tackle on a Krox before.
I like it because it stacks with Prehensile Tail...especially if you are in a very elfy league. For box play though, Blodge is great. |

I've done block/tackle on a BoN too; because likewise it stacks well with Tents, and because I have most trouble against fast elfy types, so works well there. |
