I think for the first season (and hopefully the smallest) a back-up team would just make things more complicated.

I think it would be better to have it stuctured than run on a challenge system. Structured leagues simply tend to run much better than open or challenge ones.

chunky has a point there, challeneges systems are hard to get going on a worldwide league like fumbbl, most people just don't have the level of commitment needed.

True, I have been thinking of toning down the challenge system and just focusing on the basic concept of playing as a team of coaches, which in the end is the point of this league

Just get those teams in there so we have the numbers to start then we can decide the best way to run it.

Wallace, I think you really need to get the way it's going to be run down before people will commit. Otherwise you'll end up with people who drop out just when you think you're ready to get underway as it isn't quite what they were looking for.

I know I probably won't be keen if it's not structured.

How about this:

Round Robin format, one round per fortnight.

Stables play four games, one for each team.

Matchups are determined as follows:

The commish flips a coin (or uses bbd6) for each macthup. Winner gets to choose one matchup first, ore the rest of the matchups after the first.

For example:

Team A: Dwarf, Wood Elves, Chaos, Skaven

Team B: Amazons, Khemri, Humans and Orcs

Let's say Team B win the toss.

They decide to matchup the Zons vs the Dwarfs. Team A then decides the rest of the matchups. Say, Khemri vs Skaven, Woodies vs Humans, and Orcs vs Chaos.

This decides things fairly well, and even adds a bit of extra strategy to it. Do you for example, pit the two really beatup teams in against each other for a recov game, or do you go for the kill, and risk your own weaker team? Do you maximise your strengths or minimise your weaknesses?

I'm all but convinced I think. Chunky's idea seems pretty good and the complicated challenge system seems to be putting a few people off, so unless I hear a chorus of people wanting to use the challenge system, we will be using Chunky's Round Robin idea (see above).

It's a simpler way of getting this concept off the ground I think. So anyone you know that was put off by the challenge system, let them know of the change.

I liked the challenge system, but probably without it the chances of the tournament to work are far higher. Pity.

Let's see if we can make it work the simple way.

The challenge system seemed very complicated and aren't likely to work. If you make it a round Robin league instead I'm going to join with three friends.

I've opened another thread for people to post regarding stables and their compostition and to place adverts for those wishing to participate that dont have a full stable. Hopefully that way we'll keep this thread for the purposes of rules discussion.

Round robin sounds good, but again chunky raises a good point, u need all the rules sorted before starting, like what happens if 1 (or go dofrbid more) coaches in your stable drop out for whatever reason, is the stable dead? can u bring in a new replacement?
