Nevada Athletic Department Release:

From Coach Kyyberi "Pain managed to get a tie, so is the title Bowl between Pain and AirForce? They are the only teams without losses."

Coach Kyyberi -- good example of "East Coast Bias". If you would check your conference standings you would find that the wolves of Nevada are also sport no losses -- which would include a draw with air force, though it does appear that Pain did have a bit of a hick-up against Oregon (no shame there for sure).

The Nevada Athletic department would also like to refer you to the BCS standings: where the wolfpack stands 2 BCS points ahead of one of the teams that you listed.

Say no to East coast and Dead Guy Bias!!!!

College GamePlay
Built by the Gnome Depot

Chris Fouler: Welcome to the College GamePlay show, where we review and preview all of the recent National College Blood Bowl action! The NCBB is hitting the final stretch of its 14th season, as the regular season is now complete. We have a lot of games to cover, so let me introduce my partners, former Cal blocker Anthony Killer and current NC State quarterback Tyler Brosius. Quite a season we've had so far, wouldn't you say fellas?

Anthony Killer: It'sss been a good one as alwaysss, Chrisss.

Tyler Brosius: We've definitely had some surprises this season. I mean, absolutely NO ONE saw Oregon losing five games in one season, especially after they won the championship last year.

Fouler: Quite the fall from grace they've had indeed. But speaking of the Waterfoul, why don't we review what the Smack 5 and FBC conferences have done so far this year.

Killer: The Sssmack 5 was an extremely competitive conference this year, Chrisss. All five teamsss had four winsss each, but ultimately the UCon Huskies are the conference champsss. They tied for the most BCS points in the Sssmack with Oregon State, though the two tied in their head-to-head game. But UCon had a sssuperior conference record, thusss giving them the crown. Of course Vampirebilt would take offense to that ssstatement, asss they had the best conference record of the group, but they also had five losses on the year.

Brosius: As for the newbies in the FBC, it was a rough year for two programs that will no longer have a football team next year. But the other three teams were very good this year, and two of them will hope to make a run at the Rose Bowl. The bruising style of Pain Statement had them go 3-0 in conference, and their only loss on the year was to the Waterfoul. But the conference crown went to the wide-open style of Hawaii, who, despite the head-to-head loss to Pain, finished with more BCS points.

Fouler: And how about the other two conferences, the Big Beast and the SCC?

Brosius: The Big Beast lived up to their name after having a down season last year, as they had three potential title contenders going into the final week. Air Force ended up winning the conference by going unbeaten, and despite having three ties vs other Beast teams, they have the most BCS points in the nation. One of the teams they tied was the Nevada Wolfpack, who also went unbeaten. A third team almost went unbeaten in the Beast, but the BlackKnights were decimated by the Wolfpack in a rivalry game in the second to last week of the season.

Killer: Meanwhile the SCC had their share of growing pains with five teams in their inaugural season. No team finished with more than two wins, though the girls from Arizona win the division crown by having the most BCS points and the best conference record. Hopefully a few of these teams will be able to learn from their experiences and rebound next season.

Fouler: But before we move on to next year, we need to determine a national champion for this season. What teams can make a legitimate argument to be in the title game?

Brosius: Just two teams can make a claim, Chris. Air Force has the best resume, sporting an unbeaten season with a 6-3-0 record and the most BCS points in the league. However they also had only one conference win, with the other three contests ending in ties. Thus five of their six wins were against teams that ended up with, at most, two wins. Is Air Force truly the best team in the nation? Or do they simply do what you're supposed to do: beat the teams who you are supposed to beat and play tough vs everyone else? Fortunately bowl games can't end in ties, so we'll see if they can finish off a worthy opponent when it counts.

Killer: The other unbeaten team is the Nevada Wolfpack at 5-4-0. Nevada tied Air Force way back in week 2, so these teams are basically on equal footing. However Nevada was able to beat the BlackKnights in a rivalry game that crushed the Knight's title hopes when their best players' careers were prematurely retired. It may be tough to like a 4-4-0 record over a 6-3-0 record, but Nevada has the more marquee win since Air Force only tied the under-handed BlackKnights in the season finale. However Nevada also has a lot of ties this season, so their ability to beat another worthy opponent in an overtime setting will be interesting to see.

Fouler: Very interesting guys. As a reminder, the bowl games are paired up based upon the final BCS Standings, which are comprised of four polls: the CBBS, RFA, Gogre Keg standings, and the Coach's poll. The Coach's poll is being held now, and the results are always important, so be sure to vote soon! For everyone here at College GamePlay, thanks for tuning in!

RFAdvantage Bowl Predictions!

BCS Title GameImage
#1 AF 6-3-0 (.844) #7 toughest schedule with a 1.173 factorial (1.0 being the hardest schedule)
+9 TD +13 casualties (+22 net)
~ Number 1, partially due to a middle of the road schedule, and partially due to a season of refusing to lose.
vs.
#2 Nevada 5-4-0 (.799) #5 ranked schedule with a 1.147 factorial
+6 TD +17 casualties (+23 net)
~ The Wolfpack will finally get their shot at a national title, they eek out a strong Painstate and BlackKnight team to earn the right to face AirForce.

Airforce will likely dominate a good portion of the game but be unable to salt away the match in regulation. The kickoff rules of the NCBB being what they are will allow the first team to get the ball the win, if Nevada recieves, they will still have the bodies needed to ensure the OT victory.

Rose BowlImage
#4 BK 6-1-2 (.748) #5 ranked schedule with a 1.16 factorial
+10 TD -5 casualties (+5 net)
~ The Knights will look to be minor favorites in the Rose Bowl this season. The RFA recommends they have to play
vs.
#5 Hawaii 6-1-2 (.742) #1 ranked schedule with a 1.107 factorial
+4 TD +0 casualties (+ net)
~ We would like to see the matchup between the Knights and Hawaii, to see a Rose Bowl shootout this season. The RFA thinks this would be the most interesting matchup, and the fact that Hawaii played the #1 SoS in the nation has to be rewarded.

The Black Knights will be surprisingly resilient for a team that has been recently crushed. In an odd turn this game ends up as a 1:0 victory for Hawaii, where we expected a 4:3 shootout.

DeadEx Orange BowlImage
#3 Pain 5-3-1 (.748) #17 ranked schedule with a 1.40 factorial
+3 TD +21 casualties (+24 net)
~ Painstate will likely have to console themselves with an Orange Bowl berth this season. We had expected to recommend them for the title match but having faced every team at their lowest point this season gave them the second lowest ranked SoS of all the bowl teams. Settling for a Rose or Orange bowl makes little difference when you title hopes have been crushed.
vs.
#7 Oregon State 4-3-2 (.683) #19 ranked schedule with a 1.440 factorial
+2 TD +6 casualties (+8 net)
~ The Bereavers finished with a 4-3-2 record again this season. While they are likely not terribly happy with the results, they will be happy to again be recommended for the Orange bowl. They carried the easiest SoS this season having also played each team at their lowest point in the standings.

The Bereavers will take Pain into overtime but not be able to finish the job Pain 2: 1 OState in OT.

Tossit-os Fiesta BowlImage
#6 UCon 4-3-2 (.695) #3 ranked schedule with a 1.133 factorial
-1 TD +11 casualties (+10 net)
~ U.Con was hoping for a surprise season but couldn't close it out down the stretch. Their the only bowl team who had a negative TD differential on the season having been blown out several times.
vs.
#9 Ohio 4-2-3 (.674) #7 ranked schedule with a 1.173 factorial
+3 TD +6 casualties (+9 net)
~ The drunk-guys are flailing about once again in the middle of the pack. One would think with all the talent they would be able to be a season contender.

In what will likely be the worst COACHED match of all the bowls, the teams would be better off managed by blind monkeys rolling their faces across the keyboards. But since they have to be played by their regular coaches, we think Ohio's coaching staff will be less filled with fail 2:1 Ohio in regulation.

Killer Lite Bowl
#8 Missou 4-2-3 (.677) #2 ranked schedule with a 1.107 factorial
+4 TD -2 casualties (+2 net)
~ The Tigers will again be railing against the RFA. While we do respect their top tier SoS, they suffered 3 losses this season and will have to satisfy themselves with a mid level bowl game.
vs.
#11 AZ 3-4-3 (.563) #13 ranked schedule with a 1.280 factorial
+1 TD +9 casualties (+10 net)
~ AZ had spent most of the time on the ground this season, but it looks like they were on top more often than not, have a +1 Cas differential per match! They laid into their opponents more than one would have expected them to.

Missou will be surprised at the aggressiveness of the girls, and be on their backs most of the match. Having been spent in this fashion Missou will be tired and lacking when it comes time to go again. AZ takes home the trophy 2:1.

Wonderbra Bowl
#12 Cali 3-3-3 (.632) #11 ranked schedule with a 1.253 factorial
+2 TD +1 casualties (+3 net)
~ The golden lizards should consider changing their name to the bronze iguanas, the program that once took home the national title had a hard time winning as many as they lost this season.
vs.
#13 Oregon 4-0-5 (.603) #12 ranked schedule with a 1.253 factorial
+0 TD -8 casualties (-8 net)
~ We considered not recommending the 'foul' for a bowl game this season, but think that Oregon should get a chance, having been a 3 time national champion and when they win this one they will have brought their record to a .500. We also want to see who will win the Casualty battle between these two anemic teams.

Oregon wins this one falling away 3:0 but we do mean falling as Cali inflicts even more punishment on the frail ducks.

McNurgle's BowlImage
#17 HSU 1-2-6 (.435) #20 ranked schedule with a 1.507 factorial
-7 TD -19 casualties (-26 net)
~ The Jacks had the easiest schedule of all NCBB teams and still qualified for the McNurgles, that takes dedication and perseverance to keep a team down that low for that long.
vs.
#18 Bumble 1-0-8 (.372) #16 ranked schedule with a 1.347 factorial
-16 TD -41 casualties (-57 net)
~ Quite possibly the most inspiring, uplifting, laughable season we have ever seen in the NCBB. While they did not achieve the utter levels of failure of the '07 Gogres, they were laughed at and enjoyed by all who were able to catch their matches.

As we have said before, there are no winners in the McNurgle’s, just two losers wallowing in the mud

RECOMMENDED SUSPENSION OF THE Goober FOR SEASON 14.

Teams not referenced:
TCU #5 (.714): Probation (dirty, dirty, dirty, these guys are in trouble)
Vampy #14 (.571): Bowl Ineligible - losing record 4-0-5
Fresno #15 (.564): Bowl Ineligible - losing record 2-3-4
BDR #16 (.543): Bowl Ineligible - losing record 2-2-5

The RFA would like to recommend starting a "Fael Cup Challenge" a King of the hill tourney for those teams left out of the bowl games
